[PureInsight.org] Today when we had a group Fa study and shared experiences, one practitioner mentioned that some practitioners in China had “enlightened along an evil path.” They no longer studied the Fa and only did truth-clarification. They “enlightened” that only new practitioners needed to study the Fa. They believed that their enlightenment was correct and at a high level. I recalled after the persecution of Falun Gong began in China, that those practitioners who didn’t step forward “enlightened” that they should stay at home to study the Fa and shouldn’t go out to clarify the truth.
Suddenly, I enlightened to the fact that cultivation is actually not that complicated, in that we should simply do what Master says. I feel that the longer we cultivate, the simpler and more pure our thoughts become, just like a child. Master said to do the three things well. Then we shouldn’t cut apart the three things from each other. My personal understanding is that the three things go hand in hand. Among the three, studying the Fa well is fundamental. In every lecture Master repeatedly urges us to study the Fa well. On the other hand, when we clarify the truth and save sentient beings, Master arranges various cultivation tests. When we face the conflicts, if we can really let go of self and look inside, harmonize with the whole body of practitioners and cooperate with the whole body of practitioners, the final result would certainly be that we not only have saved sentient beings but also improved our xinxing. Moreover, during the course of continually sending righteous thoughts, we act to clean out the evil that impedes Fa Rectification. Many examples have been detailed in practitioners’ experience sharings. For example, we cultivate while selling Shen Yun tickets, and during clarifying the truth to mainland Chinese over the phone. Our cultivation is a course of action in which the three things are complementary to each other.
Recall the cultivation story of Milarepa. He did whatever his master asked him to do and believed his master’s words 100%, even though at the time he might not have understood the things he was asked to do. For example, his master asked him to build a stone house, but later on asked him to pull it down, and then asked him to build it again. Milarepa did everything according to his master’s requirements. If he were an ordinary person, he would have run away a long time before.
So, I think we must not fall short of fulfilling the requirements of Master’s words. We should do what Master says. That way, we can avoid unnecessary deviations in our cultivation practice.
