Medical Practice in the New Era

Homeopathic medicine is a form of Western medicine that is less well known than the commonly practiced Western medicine of today, which is also known as allopathic medicine. The principles of homeopathic treatment were known since the time of Hippocrates (460 to 377 B.C.) In this era, Samuel Hahnemann, M.D. (1755-1843) systematized homeopathic medical treatment. There is evidence from clairvoyant readings that homeopathic medicine is a prehistoric method of healing illnesses.

The basic principle of homeopathy is Similia Similibus Curenteur 1, Latin for "Let Likes Be Cured By Likes." A sick person improves when given a substance that would make a healthy person have similar symptoms, when given the substance over a period of time. For example, if a person drinks a few cups of Chamomile tea a day, this person will become very irritable. If a person is very irritable and has not been drinking Chamomile tea, then a very small dose of Chamomile will cause this person to become calmer.

The indications for specific homeopathic remedies are discovered during provings, which are experiments conducted on normal, human volunteers. Substances are given to these people until symptoms develop. The symptoms are then recorded as the basis for administration of these remedies to sick persons. Animal experimentation is not used in discovering the appropriate remedies for patients. When proving a remedy, only one substance is taken at a time to make sure that the one substance causes the symptoms. Hence, when treating patients only one substance is given at a time. Although administering "combination" remedies, that is, several remedies combined into one is practiced today, it is not the classical form of homeopathic prescribing.

Homeopathic remedies are usually administered in potentized doses. That is, substances are serially diluted and agitated. Usually homeopathic remedies are administered in ultra molecular concentrations, that is, there are no molecules of the original substance in the remedy. The concentrations are usually much less than that of Avogadro's number (6.02 X 10 -23 molecules per mole of solution). For example, common homeopathic potencies are 30c, 200c and 1M, which are in concentrations of 10-60, 10-200 and 10-2000, respectively.

Homeopathically treated patients are evaluated according to "Hering's Law of Cure." "…the cure must proceed from centre to circumference. From centre to circumference is from above downwards, from within outwards, from more important to less important organs, from the head to the hands and feet... Moreover…symptoms which disappear in the reverse order of their coming are removed permanently." 2

"During the healthy condition of man this spirit-like force (autocracy), animating the material body (organism), rules supreme as dynamis. By it all parts are maintained wonderfully in harmonious vital process, both in feelings and functions, in order that our intelligent mind may be free to make the living, healthy, bodily medium subservient to the higher purpose of our being." 3

The title of this conference is "First World Congress of Future Science and Culture." Homeopathic medicine is one of the future sciences because it is based on spiritual principles that encourage the evolution of the individual and co-operate with the nature of the universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren [Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance].

The following are summaries of a few patients this homeopathic physician has treated.

A child was treated homeopathically for recurrent ear infections, for which she had been treated repeatedly with antibiotics. This physician treated the child once. She had no further ear infections.

A 5 year-old girl was brought to this homeopathic physician following an accident she had seven months previously. She was hit by a car and thrown up into the wheel well of the car. The car then traveled another 100 feet before it stopped. She suffered from a head injury, fractured pelvis, skin torn from various parts of the body, laceration of her perineum and severe rubber burns. Following the accident and subsequent hospitalization, while she was awake she urinated and defecated in her pants almost daily. She was hyperactive prior to the accident, and that worsened. She became preoccupied with thoughts of death and thoughts of paralysis, despite the fact that her motor system and coordination were normal. She suffered from frequent nightmares. She was also extremely jealous of her 4-month old sister.

Following homeopathic treatment, her nightmares ceased. She stopped soiling her pants. Her jealousy disappeared. The hyperactivity went away. Before the first visit her mother could always distinguish her from the other school children when she picked her up after school. She was in a world of her own and did not interact well with other children. Now, the mother had to look for her among the students because she looked and acted like the others.

A patient with a plantar wart was treated homeopathically and the wart went away painlessly in a week or two. Her father and grandmother had plantar warts, which were surgically removed. The procedures were quite painful. This patient has five children, and none of them has any warts. The three-generation history of plantar warts appears to have stopped before the fourth generation.

A 65-year old white female suffering from psoriasis for years was in more or less stable condition until September 2001 when she started psychotherapy with a new therapist. The patient was delighted with the new therapist, whom she usually saw once or twice a week. This therapist encouraged her to feel what a bad childhood she had. Also, the therapist told her to that it was all right to feel angry. The patient considered that she had always not stood up for herself, so she began feeling angry when she felt others were not treating her properly. The patient expressed how much this therapist helped her and was quite happy with her new treatment. However, the patient's psoriasis worsened considerably as well as her preoccupation with how badly she had been treated as a child.

Having attachments is a big factor that separates us from the nature of the universe. Homeopathic medicine aims to eliminate at least some attachments.

Homeopathic treatment is based on Zhen, or truth at this level. The administration of remedies and evaluation of their effects are based on natural laws, as listed above. Its aim is to cure illnesses, if possible. That includes acute and chronic ailments. It aims to restore one's normal energetic balance so one needs no further medication. Homeopathic treatment is also based on Shan, or compassion at this level, since it improves one's health without weakening the immune system, side effects, painful injections or disruption of the normal intestinal flora. As mentioned above, no vivisection is employed to discover indications for remedies. In addition, remedies may be used on all life forms, including animals and plants. Ren, or forbearance, is supposed to be practiced by homeopathic physician when interviewing or treating his or her patients. The remedies also help patients themselves practice forbearance.

With the exception of the patient undergoing repeated psychotherapy, the above are examples of favorable results of homeopathic prescribing.

Our thoughts and feelings are more central than signs and symptoms of the physical body. Actually, the results of any therapeutic modality may be followed using this law. Even in Falun Dafa, a highly advanced method of spiritual evolution, known as cultivation practice, "With every bit of improvement in your state of mind, some bad things will be eliminated from your body." (From Zhuan Falun by Li Hongzhi) "Cultivation practice is to cleanse you from your life's origin. The human body is like the annual rings of a tree, whereby each ring contains sickness-karma. So your body must be cleansed from the very center… Only a piece or two can be pushed out every once in a while." (From Essentials for Further Advancement by Li Hongzhi.) As practitioners of Falun Dafa know, when our minds improve, our bodies may temporarily experience what others might call symptoms of illnesses.

"One issue that should be clarified is that…hospital treatments only defer to the remaining half of life or later those tribulations that are the fundamental cause of illnesses. The karma is not removed at all." (From Zhuan Falun)

Homeopathic treatment aims to remove the cause of the illness. For example, the above child with nightmares following a serious accident. After she was administered a remedy for the effects of fright, the nightmares ceased. When she was administered a remedy for jealousy, the jealousy went away. Following a remedy for hyperactivity, she was no longer hyperactive. These remedies were administered infrequently, and when the results were achieved, their administration was stopped, leaving the child healthier without any medication.

Illness can be explained via principles expressed by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Zhuan Falun, the fundamental book of Falun Dafa. The following quotes are from that book.

"Birth, old age, illness, and death exist as such for ordinary people. Due to karma resulting from past wrongdoing, one has illnesses or tribulations…"

"When one does a good deed, one acquires the white substance, de. When one does a bad deed, one obtains the black substance, karma. There is also an inheriting process. One may ask, 'Is this because one did bad things early in one's life?' It might not be completely so because this karma is not accumulated in only one lifetime. The community of cultivators believes that a Primordial Spirit does not become extinct. If a Primordial Spirit does not become extinct, one probably had social interactions before this life. So one might have owed something to someone, bullied someone, or done other bad things, such as killing, which would induce this karma. These things add up in another dimension, and one always carries them; the same is also true with the white substance. This is not the only source, as there is also another situation. Throughout the generations in the family, ancestors may also accumulate karma for later generations."

"Fear is also a kind of attachment."

The above patient who was in a severe accident had the attachments of fright, restlessness and jealousy. They caused her to generate more karma as a result of her bad behavior. These attachments were largely removed by taking appropriate homeopathic remedies. By homeopathic treatment at least she was able to cease generating so much karma, as she became more considerate of others, a better daughter and a student who could more normally relate to her peers.

The patient with recurrent ear infections and the one with plantar warts demonstrate the possibility of removing ancestral illnesses, since patients with recurrent earaches frequently have a parental history of alcoholism and/or tuberculosis.

The patient whose skin worsened following her indulgence in negative thinking demonstrates what happens when a person goes contrary to Hering's Law. Her mental/emotional state was actually worse than before, and her body suffered. Also, from the point of view of karma, she accumulated more karma by her anger and resentment. Thus, her skin worsened.

Homeopathic treatment, when properly administered, does appear to help a person generate less karma. If a person is less anxious, fearful or angry then this person will generate less karma and be in a better state than before treatment. Homeopathic remedies act in a different dimension than that of our physical world by the employment of non-material, energetic doses of substances that affect the individual on a spiritual as well as physical level.

Correct and carefully applied homeopathic treatment of illnesses does not constitute cultivation practice [a Chinese expression for a method of spiritual evolution]. It is a method of treating illnesses for non-practitioners of righteous cultivation ways.

The above is my understanding of the fact that homeopathic medical treatment appears to be quite compatible with our future mankind. Its aims are in the direction of the nature of the universe. For the people of the future who are non-practitioners, and children who are too young to be practitioners, it an ideal form of medical practice.

It should be noted that with any form of illness treatment, the following applies: "Some people think that treating patients, curing their illnesses, and improving their health are good deeds. In my view, they have not really cured the illnesses. Instead of removing them, they have either postponed or transformed the illnesses." (From Zhuan Falun.) In other words, despite the fact that homeopathic treatment is a rather remarkable healing modality, a person's karma is not eliminated by homeopathic treatment.

The preceding discussion does not concern practitioners of Falun Dafa, since a true practitioner takes no medication, either homeopathic or allopathic. A true practitioner is continuously removing karma from him- or herself with no medication and moving closer to the fundamental nature of the universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren.

It must be pointed out that this physician's statements are his own understanding and do not represent Falun Dafa. In order to know the true picture of Falun Dafa an interested person should consult the original works of Mr. Li Hongzhi. Only then can one receive a true impression of Falun Dafa.

The author expresses his gratitude to the Chinese, European and American Falun Dafa practitioners for their suggestions during the preparation of this paper.
