Sponsored by the Falun Dafa Association in Taiwan, the photography exhibit, "For a Higher Truth: A Photographic Tale of Falun Dafa's Principled Resistance," is held in Taipei's 228 Memorial Park on the afternoon of July 17, 2005. Many people braved the weather to see the exhibit.

[PureInsight.org] Despite Typhoon Haitang, the Falun Dafa Association in Taiwan sponsored and held the photography exhibit titled "For a Higher Truth: A Photographic Tale of Falun Dafa's Principled Resistance" in Taipei's 228 Memorial Park on the afternoon of July 17, 2005. Many people braved the typhoon to see the exhibit.

Wind and storms failed to discourage either people's interest in the exhibit or Falun Gong practitioners' determination. According to the primary contact of the exhibit, Ms. Li Qingmei, Falun Gong practitioners would never close the exhibit because of the typhoon because cultivators have a will of iron. Ms. Li said that, judging from the concentrated and concerned look of the patrons of the exhibit, they admired and were touched by the great spirits of the cultivators in the photographs.

People were looking at the photographs with concentration

According to Ms. Li, there were two major themes in this exhibit of photographs: "The Beauty of Falun Dafa" and "Facts of the Persecution." Photographs in the first group illustrate Falun Gong's ever-increasing popularity in over 60 countries worldwide since its initial introduction in China in 1992. Photographs in the second group illustrate Falun Gong practitioners' truth-clarification activities worldwide with a constant goal to appeal for the end of the Chinese regime's persecution of Falun Gong, which was started under the order of the former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin on July 20, 1999.

According to Ms. Li, the featured photographs were selected from a large pool of photographs taken by Falun Gong practitioners worldwide for the past 14 years. They captured a lot of significant and historic moments.

Ms. Lina was responsible for selecting the photographs for the photograph exhibit. Over the selection process of many months, Falun Gong practitioners' uncompromising spirits, despite the threat of terror and violence, often moved her to tears. In fact, she often cried so hard that she had difficulty breathing.

Ms. Lina said that she finally selected about 140 photographs out of over 10,000. All the selected photographs were very interesting and inspiring in terms of the subject, composition, color and the main characters' facial expressions. These photographs show that Falun Gong have been clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the world's people under enormous pressure from the Chinese Communist regime. They illustrate Falun Gong cultivators' manner and style.

According to Ms. Li Qingmei, the organizers of the exhibit made a rare decision to have the photograph exhibit at an outdoor setting to complement other local outdoor events which were parts of global efforts to rescue Faun Gong practitioners' children orphaned by China's persecution on the same day. On the evening of July 17, there was a concert and candlelight vigil to memorialize the murdered Falun Gong practitioners. In the future, the organizers will hold the photograph exhibit in a more elegant indoor setting. Falun Gong practitioners worldwide will soon have similar photography exhibits in their areas.

Finally, Ms. Lina would like to urge Falun Gong practitioners and the public to continue photographing Falun Gong practitioners' truth-clarification activities and submit them to the exhibit preparation committee to record the Fa-rectification period for the future generations.
