A Supporting Voice from Germany

A Dafa Practitioner in Beijing

PureInsight | December 17, 2012

[PureInsight.org] The other day, I happened to take a taxi in Beijing together with a visitor from Germany. I tried to clarify the truth to the cab driver along the way, and to my surprise, the German visitor understood me and supported my clarifications from his own personal experiences and knowledge, which made it easy to persuade the taxi driver.

The taxi driver was a friendly warm-hearted person who tried his best to try to introduce Beijing to the German visitor. When we were driving through the area where all the foreign consular offices were located, the driver introduced each office one by one. When we were passing by the Japanese consular office, the driver started to vent his anger towards Japan. Right now, China and Japan are embroiled in a territory conflict over certain islands in the Yellow Sea; it seems that every Chinese person will criticize Japan whenever the topic of Japan is raised and the driver was no exception. He started to complain that Japan was evil-minded and that Japan was bent on inflicting pain on China by its attempt to try to change the historical records of the involved islands. I then told the driver that it was true that Japan had tampered its history, but the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had done similar things just the same. The driver didn’t believe me so I said to him: “In World War II, Japan surrendered to China’s Nationalist Party, however, in our textbooks, we are all being taught that Japan was defeated by the CCP.” The driver was very stubborn and refused to accept my claim. The German visitor chimed in and said: “Yes, it is true. In our history classes, we have all learned that Japan surrendered to the Nationalist Party, not the CCP. The rest of the world knows it.” The driver was obviously moved by those words. I was also surprised. I had always thought that such historical events were only significant to Chinese people. I didn’t know that the rest of the world had already recorded these events and correctly stated them in their textbooks. I felt very happy in my heart.

Most Chinese people believe that people in the West live a comfortable, abundant life. The German visitor mentioned, however, that he spent around two hundred euros each month on living expenses. Nowadays, a typical Chinese person has to spend more than two thousand Yuan each month to make ends meet. Nonetheless, the proudest thing the German visitor felt was that he was a free man in his country and around the world. Human rights were enjoyed by everyone in the West. People had the freedom to public assembly and speech. The German visitor continued to point out that on the contrary, there were no human rights in China at all. I picked up the topic and added that in China, there was no freedom of belief. Any religious movement would be persecuted. I listed Falun Gong as just one example. It is such a good exercise system, yet, the CCP tries to not allow Falun Gong to be practiced. The driver began to repeat some government propaganda claims against Falun Gong. I interrupted him and told him that Falun Gong was practiced in more than one hundred countries around the world. I then asked the German visitor whether he had heard of Falun Gong in his own country. The visitor immediately replied with a positive “yes,” and added that Falun Gong practitioners were very peaceful. These words from the German visitor eventually changed the taxi driver’s mind and he stopped uttering propaganda against Falun Gong. It was apparent that the driver had been very opinionated. He didn’t want to listen to others. My clarifications, supported by this Germany visitor, seemed to touch the cab driver’s heart.

I continued to talk about the “Quit CCP” campaign and asked the driver to quit his CCP membership. The driver was a little bit afraid at first. I asked him how he felt about the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, and he expressed his deep sympathy towards those killed. I then told the driver that the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners was much more devastating. Many Falun Gong practitioners had been persecuted to death, and many others had their organs harvested for profit while still living. I also mentioned the infamous plasticization of human cadavers at the processing factory in Dalian city. Both the driver and the German visitor were astonished to hear my story and both of them filled with anger. I kept talking about the importance of the “Quit CCP” movement, and finally, the driver nodded and decided to quit his membership. When the taxi reached my destination and I began to leave, both the driver and the German visitor waved good-bye to me.

I take taxis on a regular basis, however, it was my first experience of sharing a taxi with a foreigner. From the conversation, I realized there was a vast gap in the thought process between Chinese and Westerners. It also made me realize how miserable Chinese people have been living all along. The Chinese Community Party is simply too evil; it has spread so many lies and so many people have been murdered by it, and its corruption is so widespread and everyone around the world knows it. Such an evil is destined to be eliminated by the heavenly forces. The persecution of Falun Gong has been ongoing for more than thirteen years, yet all across the world Falun Gong practitioners have managed to clarify the truth and the world has learned the truth about Falun Gong. Even a German individual knows about the persecution of Falun Gong. Within China right now, the suffering and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners continues and these injustices are a test for every human being to look at his conscience to choose between good and evil. Do we stand by the righteous or do we follow the evildoers? Everyone looks forward to a bright future; everyone looks forward to a just world. When every one of us reveals our true nature, to be True, Good and Endure, I am convinced that every one of us will resonate with supporting voices, such as that of the German visitor.
