Quick Thoughts --- Age

[PureInsight.org] If you ask me how old I am, it is hard for me to answer your question. Sometimes I look like a mere naughty child. Sometimes I looks like a tranquil old person. I have so much energy like a young person. But the depth of my character is that of a middle-aged person. So, please tell me: how old I should say I am?

I may happily play with children. I may also discuss topics ranging from ancient times to modern times with older people. I might make friends with young people at the same time.

I am joyful because I do not have any sorrow. My depth of character runs deep because I learned to enjoy loneliness. I am happy because I have encountered the "Buddha Law," the Law of the Universe. I am sorrowful because I see all living beings suffering from hardships and still having not been brought out of danger.

I tell you a secret: cultivation has a huge impact on a person's age. It not only makes the person feel rejuvenated and years younger, it can also impart infinite wisdom to the person and make him feel wise beyond his years. It can make this person full of energy, and gives the person rationality to spare.

To tell you the truth, a person's actual age is not important. The important thing is whether one has the opportunity to hear about cultivation of the Law of the Universe. And even more important: after one has heard about it, what choice will one make?
