Concerning Different Opinions on Whether to Hold a Press Conference or Not

[PureInsight.org] Not long ago, practitioners in our area had discussions on whether we should hold a press conference in front of the Chinese consulate. The following are some of my understandings to share with everyone. Please help correct any mistakes I have made.

Some practitioners felt disappointed when they held press conferences in the past but the media did not come. They believe that the media wouldn't come if we hold another press conference. So they feel that it is meaningless to hold press conferences in front of the Chinese consulate. Is it a reflection of depending too much on ordinary people's media? Many people watch or read their reports and can learn the truth [about Falun Dafa and the persecution] through their reports. So of course it would be great if the media chose to show up and did a story on our event. However, reporters and editors who work for ordinary people's media are not cultivators. And like government officials and other non-practitioners, they are free to choose how they position themselves in the Fa-rectification. Our contact with them before, during and after the press conference is the process of us clarifying the facts to the media. I feel that Dafa practitioners should not depend on the media, or expect their appearance to make our activities meaningful.

Press conferences, gatherings and candlelight vigils are examples of our practitioners' strength united. They are also some of the ways where Dafa practitioners purge evil [with our righteous thoughts,] reveal facts of the persecution, and clarify the truth [about Falun Dafa] to people. Inviting the media to our group activities (including press conferences) is only a part of the preparation effort for an activity, but not the activity itself.

No matter whether the media comes or not, our group activities still carry great significance. It is a chance for more disciples to participate and manifest our united strength. Also, it is a chance for us to greatly eliminate evil [in other dimensions] under the field of righteous thoughts. Our press conferences are normally held in front of the Chinese consulate. The Chinese consulate is where evil [from other dimensions] is concentrated outside of China. Every time I read our press releases, I feel hot all over, just like when I erect my palm in front of my chest sending forth righteous thoughts. I always feel that we are eliminating evil not only when we send forth righteous thoughts; we are also eliminating evil every time we do things with a righteous mind. Teacher said in Lecture Six in Zhuan Falun, "As a person with genuine gong and energy, you do not need to give it off intentionally; you will leave energy on whatever you touch, and it will all be shining brightly."

Just as importantly, our own media can play a huge role [at the press conferences.] Through the reports from our own media, we are also eliminating evil [from other dimensions,] and revealing facts of the persecution. Through our media, we are also clarifying the truth [about Falun Dafa and the persecution] to more people, and broadcasting our righteous thoughts and voices all over the world. I feel that as the Fa-rectification is reaching the human world, Dafa practitioners' media will gradually take a lead role, especially in regards to reports on Falun Gong. ClearWisdom.net, PureInsight.org, XinSheng.net and many other websites that Falun Dafa practitioners have established all make a tremendous contribution to the Fa-rectification. With the help of many different techniques [to overcome China's information barrier on the Internet,] many people in china can also reach these websites and learn the truth about Falun Dafa.

In addition, even if ordinary people's media don't show up at our press conferences or other public events, we can still write our own media report and send it to them. Sometimes they will publish the report we send them. This is also another process of clarifying the truth to the media.
