[PureInsight.org] In 1996, Dafa spread widely to my hometown, and all three members of my family obtained the Fa one after another. At that time, there were about three thousand people in my city (including surrounding towns and villages) practicing Falun Gong. At many practice sites, fellow practitioners could be seen doing the morning exercises together. After Jiang’s rogue regime began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, we remained unmoved and continued to believe firmly in Dafa. Because my husband was the coordinator of a local volunteer assistance center, he became a key target to arrest by the police. Over more than twenty years of turmoil, my husband was forced to live away from home for eight years and later was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison. I was displaced for four years and illegally sent to forced labor for two years. Our child was illegally abducted twice and forcibly detained for about three to four months each time.
To have made it through the bloody terror of red repression was entirely due to Master’s compassionate protection. Without Master’s care, it would truly have been impossible to take even a single step. Recalling fragments of our cultivation journey is meant to validate Master’s greatness and the extraordinary and miraculous nature of Dafa, to affirm that Master is with us at every moment and that nothing is beyond Master’s power, and to encourage myself and more fellow practitioners to believe in Master and the Fa and to fulfill our sacred mission.
I. Transferring Supplies
On September 30, 2006, the Public Security Department of a northeastern province launched a coordinated operation to arrest a group of Falun Gong practitioners. That day, my husband went to the provincial capital to purchase supplies and returned home around five in the evening. At that time, a fellow practitioner called him and warned him not to open the door if someone knocked that night, as there might be an operation involving forced home entry and robbery. When my husband returned, he saw a vehicle with several people sitting at the entrance of our apartment building, though he did not yet know they were plainclothes police. Inside our home were two thousand copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, along with Dafa books, pamphlets, and various supplies. What should we do? We decided to immediately move everything out.
My husband and I quickly packed everything into cardboard boxes. He transported them by three-wheeled cart to another practitioner’s storage room. No one saw us, no one followed us, and he made three trips in total. Under normal circumstances, with a car full of people sitting at the building entrance, they should have noticed us long ago—but they did not. We knew it was because Master saw our determination to protect Dafa materials and shielded us, so they simply could not see us. When my husband returned after finishing the transport, he saw the plainclothes officers sitting in the car giving him a malicious smile. At the same time, a thought was injected into his mind: “You’re feeling smug now—tomorrow you’ll be arrested.”
II. A Clever Escape from Danger
When my husband came back, he told me that the people in the car outside really did seem to be police, and we needed to quickly find a way to leave. How could we get out? Without hesitation, I said, “I’ll go out first and draw them away. You find a chance to leave. You haven’t been caught all these years—we can’t let them arrest you. I’ll be fine. I have Master’s protection. Don’t worry.”
We had four laptops and each of us carried two over our shoulders. I headed straight for the bike shed to get the motorcycle, only to discover that the communal shed—which was usually never locked—had been locked. At that moment, a plainclothes officer got out of the car, followed me closely, and made a phone call saying, “The woman is out. Should we arrest her?” I then turned around and went back inside. When I entered the apartment, my husband was already gone. I immediately felt relieved and let out a long breath. Later, I learned that during the few minutes when I drew the police away, my husband—under Master’s compassionate protection—avoided the police’s line of sight and successfully escaped through the south gate of the residential compound. Before my husband escaped, I had no idea how he would manage to get out. I only knew that with Master, everything would be fine and that it would surely work. In truth, it was Master who helped my husband escape danger in such a skillful way.
III. “I’m the One Taking the Taxi; You’re the One Driving”
I wondered how I should leave. At that moment, a thought came to me: the family across the hall had a taxi. So I said to the man across the hall, “I’d like to hire your taxi to go out for the errand.” He said, “Sure.” He asked me where I was going. At that time, I truly didn’t know where to go and had no destination. Later I thought I would go to my older brother’s place first.
As we were leaving the residential compound, I was spotted by plainclothes officers. They immediately got into their car and followed closely behind us. Along the way, the driver noticed that a car had been following us closely, only a short distance behind. He asked me what was going on. I said, “I practice Falun Gong. Falun Gong is a Buddhist cultivation practice, a high-level Fa of the Buddha School that teaches people to be good by following Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. They want to arrest good people and won’t allow us to practice.” I clarified the truth to the driver and told him how my husband had recovered after two-thirds of his stomach was removed due to cancer. The driver strongly agreed with me.
When we arrived at my brother’s residential complex, it was already past seven in the evening. The headlights of the car behind us shone directly into our taxi. I took out five yuan and deliberately unfolded it so the plainclothes officers behind us could clearly see it through the car window, so as not to implicate the driver. Afraid that he might be frightened, I told him, “I’m the one taking the taxi; you’re the one driving. I hired your car—this has nothing to do with you. Don’t be afraid.” After saying this, I got out of the car.
IV. Narrow Escape
When I reached the entrance of my brother’s residential compound, I slipped into the guardroom while the police car was turning around and couldn’t see me. The gatekeepers were an elderly couple whom I had met before when visiting my brother. I asked if I could hide here for a while. The older woman asked what was going on. I said, “I practice Falun Gong, and the car outside is here to arrest me.” The older woman said, “Tell me about Falun Gong.” I told her that Falun Gong practitioners are all good people who live by Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and cultivate virtue. I also told her that after my husband’s stomach cancer surgery, the hospital said he would live only two more years, but now more than ten years have passed, and he is still doing well—Falun Gong has remarkable effects in healing illness and improving health. At that point, her husband returned. I explained everything to him as well. He said, “That’s true—why arrest good people? Getting better from illness and being a good person are not wrong.” I gave each of them an amulet. Under Master’s compassionate protection, they both came to understand the truth and said, “It’s fine. Stay here.”
I thought to myself that with Master’s protection, everything would be fine. I also told them not to be afraid, that there was divine protection. The husband was still uneasy and went out several times to look around. Each time he came back, he said that there were more police vehicles—about seventy or eighty people in total. From after seven in the evening until the next morning, the police stayed outside the residential compound, occasionally entering to search, walking back and forth in front of the guardroom. Their footsteps and loud voices could be heard clearly inside, yet they never entered the guardroom to search. Truly, everything was under Master’s control.
V. Hiding in the Cellar
In the early hours of the morning, around one or two am, the older woman’s husband became frightened. He went out to see whether the police had left and came back saying that there were even more people now and that I could not leave. I did not waver. I believed I would definitely be able to leave. Seeing that he was unsettled, I asked whether there was a place to hide in their home. He said there was. He immediately moved a table aside, lifted the linoleum and wooden boards underneath, and said it was an access opening for plumbing. I saw it was just right, and he helped me down.
The opening was about one meter wide and more than two meters deep, with pipes inside, and there was ample space. I stayed there for four or five hours. It was dark and cold. The older woman’s husband was very kind and worried about the lack of oxygen. From time to time, he opened it and asked, “Are you okay? Make a sound if you’re all right.” I said I was fine. When he heard my voice, he put the table back in place. This happened several times. He said, “I’m afraid you’ll suffocate.” I told him the space was large and that it was fine. Finally, he said, “I’m scared. I can’t stay here anymore. I’m leaving. Wouldn’t this count as harboring someone?” The older woman had strong righteous thoughts and said, “Nothing will happen. Go if you need to.”
Around five or six o’clock in the morning, the husband returned and said, “I’m still worried. That whole street outside is full of police cars. You can’t leave. What should we do?” When I heard this, I didn’t want to keep them afraid. I had to think from their perspective—it wasn’t right for them to be constantly terrified. I decided to go to my brother’s home. I said, “Please pull me up.” The older woman’s husband then helped me out.
VI. “Your Master Has Come to Save You”
My older brother lives on the fourth floor. I asked them to check the stairwell if there were any police there. The older woman’s husband was too afraid to go, so the older woman said, “I’ll go.” She came back and said there were no police. I then put the laptop on my back and came out of the guardroom. To reach my brother’s building, I still had to pass by the main gate. I saw police cars there, yet they did not see me. Isn’t that miraculous?
Under Master’s protection, I arrived safely at my brother’s home. I explained the situation, and my nephew said, “I’ll go out and see how many police there are. If I tell you to come out, then come out; if I don’t, then don’t.” My brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and niece-in-law all understood the truth, recognized Dafa, and had already withdrawn from the CCP organizations. They were very supportive of my practicing Falun Gong. My nephew came back and said, “You still can’t leave right now. Just stay here for the time being.” I said, “I can’t stay here long either. My Master will save me and protect me so I can escape safely.”
No sooner had I finished speaking than my nephew suddenly shouted, “Auntie, your Master has come to save you!” I asked, “Where?” He said, “Look—right there!” He pointed at a large plank excitedly out the window and said, “There has never been a plank here before. Today it was built especially for you. Your Master has come to save you!” There was a large shared platform on the second floor of my brother’s building. From there, one could jump onto the roof of a storage building. This plank had been set up between the storage building and a newly constructed residential complex next to it, with a gap of about two meters.
I was overjoyed—Master had truly come to save me. I immediately put the laptop on my back, crossed the plank, and reached the roof of the storage building. Three people were repairing the roof and asked me what I was doing. I said, “I own a place here and come over to take a look.” Then I went on into the newly built residential area.
The migrant workers there were resting and asked me what I was doing. I asked where I could find an exit. They told me where the main gate was. When I walked over, I saw a police officer sitting at the gate polishing his shoes, so I turned back. At that moment, I saw a man collecting items for re-cycling. I said to him, “Brother, my lower back isn’t in good shape. Could you go out and help me hail a taxi?” He agreed immediately. After more than ten minutes, a taxi arrived. I told the driver that my back wasn’t well and that I needed to lie down in the back seat. He said that was fine. In this way, I went to my sister-in-law’s home.
VII. Encirclement and Interception
The next day was October 1st. My daughter returned home for the holiday and was taken to my sister-in-law’s place. My husband called and learned that I had not been arrested. He told us to go to find him. We did not dare to board a bus at the passenger station. Instead, we waited for a bus on the road to the provincial capital, near the wholesale market. At that time, the entire city was under lockdown, and police were stationed there as well. A police car drove past us. After it passed, the officers noticed us. We immediately ran toward the wholesale market. The police car did not turn around but instead tried to intercept us from the other side of the market. At the entrance of the market stood a pair of large stone lions. We immediately hid behind them. The police car failed to notice us and continued driving into the market. We then quickly ran back to the main road. Just then, a bus heading to the provincial capital arrived. Under Master’s protection, we boarded it smoothly. I was deeply moved. Such ingenious arrangements could only be accomplished by divine beings.
After arriving in the provincial capital, we did not get off at the passenger station but instead disembarked halfway. We still needed to wait on the roadside for a long-distance bus. However, the bus was already over an hour late, and it was past five in the evening. When boarding, the driver said he didn’t know what had happened, but everyone coming out of the passenger station was being checked one by one. I understood how fortunate we were—under Master’s compassionate protection, we had avoided one search after another.
At around ten o’clock that night, I saw riot police everywhere on the streets, carrying guns. They ordered everyone on the bus to get off for inspection. I told my daughter, “Don’t be afraid. We have Master. Let’s send forth righteous thoughts.” We did not get off the bus and instead sat there sending forth righteous thoughts. The police asked the driver, “Has everyone gotten off?” He said, “Yes.” At that moment, three or four officers came onto the bus to check. Under Master’s protection, they did not see us and got off again. Truly, “Disciples’ righteous thoughts are strong, Master has the power to turn the tide” (Hong Yin II, “Master-Disciples Grace”).
In this way, we safely reached another province and reunited with my husband. With the help of fellow practitioners, we settled down, and soon we once again merged into the mighty current of assisting Master in rectifying the Fa, continuing to do what we were meant to do.
This is truly:
Amid raging waves, divine power revealed
The Lord Buddha’s compassion protects his disciples
With unstoppable force, countless hardships swept away
The boundless grace of Fa-rectification witnessed by Heaven and Earth
Looking back, every scene remains vivid and heart-stirring—each moment tightly linked to the next. Without Master’s protection, it would truly have been impossible to take even a single step. With so much police force mobilized against one weak woman, in their eyes I had no way to escape. Yet right under their noses, with Master’s compassionate protection, I passed through one perilous trial after another. In fact, this is only one fragment, one small reflection of more than twenty years of cultivation. Experiences in which Master turned the tide, transformed danger into safety, and moved even gods and spirits to tears are truly too numerous to count. I am filled with boundless emotion.
I have come to understand that no matter how difficult the environment is, one must believe in Master and believe in the Fa; no matter what trials one faces, one must first think of others and cultivate a selfless, altruistic heart. As long as one meets the requirements of the Fa for cultivators, there is nothing Master cannot do. I am deeply grateful to Master for protecting me and my family. I am deeply grateful for Master’s vast and boundless grace.
As Fa-rectification nears its final stage, I still have many attachments to rectify within the Fa. I will cherish the hard years I have walked through, cherish the limited cultivation opportunities that remain, cultivate myself well, do the three things well, and fulfill my prehistoric vows.
Thank you, compassionate and great Master!
Thank you, fellow practitioners!
