“Being Busy” and “Cultivation” Are Not Necessarily Causally Related

PureInsight | November 12, 2014

[Pureinsight.org] I have often been very busy with Fa-validation work or my ordinary job but was not in a very good cultivation state. When fellow practitioners reminded me, I would immediately say, “I’ve been really busy recently,” as if I had a bad cultivation state because I was “busy.” I connected “being busy” with “cultivation.” After having carefully thought it through, I realized that there is no such relationship. Master also never mentioned that “being busy” and “cultivation” are necessarily related!

Continuing this way of thinking, I found that there are many such things in cultivation. One fellow practitioner was not holding his hand properly when sending forth righteous thoughts, was always in a sleepy state during the exercises, and would start falling asleep when reading the book. When other practitioners pointed it out, that practitioner “looked within for a while” and said at last, “I’ve been quite busy. This is due to a lack of sleep.” Even though this practitioner looked within on the surface, it was hard to find the root cause because this practitioner was not looking according to the xinxing standards or principles of the Fa.

I thought that there was a definite relationship between “being busy” and “cultivation”, and between lack of sleep and cultivation state. However, this was actually following the path of the old forces because Master never mentioned such a principle in the Fa. The cultivation and xinxing improvement of Dafa disciples are not necessarily related to “being busy” or “not being busy.” When we think that our cultivation state is related to “being busy”, this thought is not our own; it is a notion formed in the human world. In the article “Be Clearheaded” from The Essentials of Diligent Progress VOL. III, Master said, “If you, as a student [of Dafa], do not follow Master’s requirements, it is definitely no simple thing. The old forces have arranged for all Dafa disciples a set of their things, so if a Dafa disciple doesn’t follow Master’s requirements, he must be following the old forces’ arrangements.” When any thought that deviates from the Fa appears, we should catch the opportunity immediately and eliminate it. Only by following Master’s Fa can we completely eliminate the arrangements of the evil beings.

We know from the Fa that as long as our hearts are always on the Fa and we conduct ourselves with a cultivator’s standards, our cultivation will not be affected no matter how busy we are. At the same time, we tend to accomplish more with less effort. If we are in the Fa twenty-four hours a day, “being busy” or “not being busy” on the outside does not affect xinxing improvement at all. This is the righteous principle of the Fa. In the article “Teaching the Fa and Answering Questions in Zhengzhou” from the book The Law of Zhuan Falun Explained, Master said, “Cultivation is about people’s minds, about changing their ways of thinking. However pure your thoughts are, that is your Attainment Status.”

We have come near the end of Fa-rectification. Every thought that appears in our minds should be evaluated by Dafa’s principles. If it is not based on the righteous principles of Dafa, it is definitely a notion that was formed in the human world or a deviated substance that was placed into our thoughts by evil beings. It must be cleaned immediately in order for us to do well on the last part of the path in Fa rectification.

The above is a little bit of my understanding. Fellow practitioners please kindly point out anything that is inappropriate.
