"7.20" Candlelight Remembrance Event in Canberra Calling for an End to 19 Years of Persecution
At 6 pm of July 20th, some Falun Gong practitioners in Australia held a "7.20" candlelight remembrance event in front of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra, mourning Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted to death by CCP.
Practitioners sat cross-legged by the road sides and held up the portraits of the persecuted. Behind them were banners displaying “Falun Dafa is Good", exposing the truth and asking to stop persecution. Practitioners sat quietly in the cold wind, and from time to time, drivers in passing cars honked to express their support.
In addition to the eulogy written by the local practitioners for the commemoration activities, "World Organization to Investigate Persecution of Falun Gong" (referred to as "World Investigate"), Canberra representative Dr. Liu Songfa read out the speech that Wang Zhiyuan, had read out in front of the Chinese Embassy in New York, solemnly advising the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Australia to stop participating in the persecution. Falun Gong practitioner Lu Liangchun is from Canberra. Her mother is still being held in a prison in mainland China. Lu Liangchun said, "The persecution is still going on. Think about the difficult situation of domestic practitioners. Overseas practitioners should really put in more efforts."
Lu Liangchun and her family are all Falun Gong practitioners. Her father died from the persecution. Her mother was detained for the second time. She and her two sisters were once sent to the labor camp illegally. The encounter of Lu Liangchun’s family is the epitome of the persecution of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China.
Liao Shuzhen, who took her two daughters to the event, said, "I usually go to tourist sites to do truth clarification on the weekends. I hope that Chinese people can stop and cherish the chance to learn about the truth. I hope they can understand what Falun Gong really is."
After participating in the anti-persecution activities of Falun Gong practitioners for many years, the Canberra police have already known that Falun Gong practitioners are a peaceful and rational group. In the past, the police car will come and watch the activity. Tonight the police did not even show up.
- An Address on 7.20 Canberra Candlelight Vigil
Today, with the sunset disappearing, with the heaven and ground melting into the sky, Canberra Falun Gong practitioners once again gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra to mourn Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted to death by the CCP because they adhered to their beliefs and conscience.
The winter nights in Canberra are very cold, and the cold wind has blown through our clothes. But our hearts are full of warmth. Tracing back, for 19 difficult years, Falun Gong practitioners faced overwhelming rumors, detention, torture, and even organ harvesting. Although the persecution is still going on, Falun Gong practitioners, as a whole, can be proud to say: We have come over!
Jiang Zemin (former Chinese Communist Party leader) gave an order to his CCP party in 1999 that “To eliminate Falun Gong within three months”, but we are still stood here.
Although the weather is cold, we sit next to each other. We know that the candlelight tonight is not just in Canberra, in Taiwan, in Hong Kong, in the United States, in Europe, but more in mainland China, where persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is still on-going.
A little candlelight spreads all over the world, the night is cold, but we are not alone.
In the swaying candlelight, we look back at the voices and smiles of the fellow practitioners. Although they have been separated in other worlds, their endurance and dedication have encouraged us to persist today. Looking back at the prevalence of persecution in 1999, Falun Gong was popular in mainland China. After people practice Falun Gong, they are physically and mentally healthy, and they make contributions to the society. Falun Gong’s good reputation was spread around. 19 years have already passed. The babies who were born 19 years ago have grown up. I don't know how long it will go on but as long as the persecution does not end, we will still gather here on the day of July 20.
The activities against persecution of Falun Gong practitioners will not stop. This is not a rhetoric. It is not because we understand that dripping water can wear stone. It is because we know that Jiang Zemin’s challenge to the Dharma is doomed to fail.
History can reflect our current situation. The ancient Roman Empire persecuted Christians for 300 years, which resulted in the demise of the ancient Roman Empire, and Christianity became the cornerstone of Western civilization.
Chinese traditional culture has a long history. Confucius once said, if people don’t submit to persecution, we can improve morality. Advocating morality rather than force is the external manifestation of the core values of Chinese traditional culture.
The 19 years of non-violent against persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is undoubtedly the practice and restoration of the traditional ethics of Chinese nation. Falun Gong practitioners who choose justice and kindness are repairing the backbone of the Chinese culture that have been scarred by the CCP’s violent regime.
Many Chinese people have become accustomed to kneeling, not knowing and understanding the experience of walking freely in the sun. Although Falun Gong practitioners are still brutally persecuted by CCP in mainland China, our beliefs and thoughts are free. Just like this little candlelight, although it seems weak, it is so eye-catching in the darkness, radiating hope.
Rally in Auckland to Mark the 19th Anniversary of Falun Gong’s Peaceful Resistance to the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution.
On July 20th at 11 am, Falun Gong practitioners in Auckland, New Zealand, held a rally in Newmarket Park. They called for people’s support to help stop the 19-year persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). People took this opportunity to learn the facts about Falun Gong.
Former CCP Official: Everyone Should Make the Right Choice
“I am a Falun Gong Practitioner from China. My wife, daughter and I were persecuted by the CCP just because we practice Falun Gong. But we escaped from China,” said Sanpu He, former deputy director of Propaganda Department in Henan Province. Mr. He started to practice Falun Gong at the beginning of 1996. He was outstanding and won awards in his work place. But after CCP started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, his family suffered severely.
On July 2000, he called a police officer, telling him that detaining Falun Gong practitioners who go to Beijing for petition is illegal. Half an hour later, he was arrested by the police and sent to detention center. 34 days later, he was sent to a forced labor camp for 2 years.
During that time, Sanpu He suffered from high voltage electric baton shock and was forced to do heavy-duty work. Because he didn’t give up his belief, he was detained for three more months. He was not allowed to go home after leaving the forced labor camp. He was once again sent to a brain washing centre for more than two years. During that time, Sanpu He was forced fed three times.
"I Am Standing up for myself and for all Chinese who Have Beliefs”
Wei Tan was a doctor in China. Several generations in her family have been persecuted by CCP: her grandfathers’ property were confiscated; her parents have been persecuted as “landlord”; she has been persecuted because she practices Falun Gong and was forced to divorce her husband.
She started to practice Falun Gong since November 1996. She was in college at that time, but she found that a tumor grew on her ovary. For her health, surgery was needed to remove the ovary, which will result in her not being able to have children any more. Therefore, she chose the conservative treatment. On the night before the surgery, she got a chance to read book of Falun Gong. She said, “I feel like I understand everything and my illness is not a problem anymore.” After three months of practicing Falun Gong, her tumor miraculously disappeared. Her skin problems disappeared. She said, “I try to be nice following ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance’. I become healthy because I practice Falun Gong.”
However, she said that the CCP’s Constitution claims that citizens have freedom of belief, but her freedom of belief has been denied. The CCP has also been telling lies to provoke people to hate Falun Gong.
Tan Wei said, "I am standing up for myself and for all Chinese who have beliefs. CCP violates the law." She chose to stand up in order to ask the CCP to immediately stop persecuting Falun Gong and all those who have beliefs. At the same time, she hope that such appeals can attract the attention of mainstream society.
Driving 6 Hours to Speak out for Justice
Ms. Liu, a Falun Gong practitioner, is from Whanganui. She drove 6 hours to Auckland. She said, "Even if I drive for 6 hours to participate in this event, it is nothing compared to the efforts of other Falun Gong practitioners who are being persecuted in China."
Ms. Liu said that the persecution has been going on for nearly 20 years. The CCP has invested huge amount of manpower, material resources and financial resources to persecute a group of good people who follow “truthfulness-compassion- tolerance". She said that the purpose of her trip is to use her own effort to speak for justice.
The CCP began persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. On this day of every year, Falun Gong practitioners around the world hold various activities to commemorate those who have been persecuted to death.
Ms. Liu said, "This day means to me that we must stand out and let more people know the truth about persecution. We also hope that more people can see Falun Gong practitioners’ efforts, I believe that people's conscience will be awakened."

Parade in Queensland Australia to Call an End to 19 Years of Persecution
On July 14, some Falun Gong practitioners from Queensland, Australia held a “7.20” anti-persecution 19th anniversary parade in the center of Brisbane and a truth-telling event, calling for attention to stop this unprecedented and long-lasting human rights persecution.
Falun Gong practitioners marched from Brisbane Square and passed through some of the main blocks in the city center. The crowd watched and photographed with their mobile phones. After the parade, practitioners continued to hold banners, hang board, ask people to sign the petition, passing out flyers and conduct exercise demonstrations in Brisbane Square. The people have learned the truth, and supported the Falun Gong against the persecution. Some Chinese nationals announced on the spot to quit CCP.
Director of Education Service: the Courage to Resist Persecution for 19 Years Is Impressive
Emily is a department director in an education organization from Brisbane. She was watching Falun Gong’s parade on the street. Falun Gong practitioners handed her flyers and answered her questions. After learning about the truth of Falun Gong being persecuted, she said, “The courage to resist persecution for 19 years is impressive!” “Although they are expressing a protest, the parade is very peaceful.”
Emily was curious when she saw the sign saying, “The Evil Spector of communism is ruling our world”. Falun Gong practitioners explained to her the infiltration of communism in the world, especially in the western world. She said that she would like to research more about that.
Chinese Quit CCP: CCP Will Be Punished
The event also attracted many local Chinese and international students and tourists from mainland China. They were shocked by the CCP’s evil after they learned about the truth. They expressed their admiration and support for the 19-year anti-persecution. They quit the communist organizations with the help of Falun Gong practitioners.
Xiaowang (pseudonym), who came from Shanghai, looked at the banner and display board carefully. He said, “I don’t like the CCP since I was a child. My parents also felt the same. But the truth I learned today shocked me. The Tiananmen Square self-immolation is fake. Organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners is happening in China. It is completely beyond imagination. This evil party should be eliminated.” He readily agreed to quit the communist organization.
Ms. Li Meixia (pseudonym), who immigrated to Australia with her 12-year-old son two years ago, talked with Falun Gong practitioners for a long time. She knew that Falun Gong is good while in mainland China, but she didn’t have a chance to learn more. She was very happy to know about the truth today.
She said, “it is really stupid (for CCP) to persecute good people. It not only wastes manpower, material resources and financial resources, but also causes a sharp decline in social morality. Not only Falun Gong practitioners suffer, but also the entire Chinese nation.” She quit the CCP with her son and expressed her willingness to do exercises at the Falun Gong meditation site.
Engineer: Everyone Must Help Stop Persecution
Ben, an engineer from the Department of Material Engineering at the University of Queensland, took his 10-month-old baby daughter to play at Brisbane Square. He saw the truth banner of Falun Gong and came to know more about that. He was very shocked about CCP’s crime of removing organs from live Falun Gong practitioners. “It is unacceptable to persecute Falun Gong. Organ harvesting is even more intolerable. Everyone must help stop this persecution.” Ben agrees with Falun Gong’s principle “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance”. He signed the petition.
International Student: I Want to Spread the Truth of Falun Gong
Khalifa is an international student studying political science at Griffith University. Out of his professional sensitivity, he is very concerned about the resistance to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He carefully read the boards and materials to learn about the truth.
He said: "I didn't know that Falun Gong was so cruelly persecuted by the CCP, and it has been going on for 19 years! The whole world should stop the persecution of Falun Gong!" Falun Gong practitioners also told Khalifa that Falun Gong is not political, Khalifa agrees. He said, "You have no political appeals. You are showing this persecution to the whole world. It is just an action of justice and you should get more support!" Khalifa signed to support Falun Gong and he said that he will spread the truth on his social media.
Taiwan Tourist: Falun Gong, Come on!
Mr. Zhang, a tourist from Taiwan, was very happy to see Falun Gong practitioners. He said that Falun Gong is very popular in Taiwan. There are many people practicing Falun Gong in Taiwan. His mother's aunt is also practicing, and it is very good for her health. After further understanding the truth about Falun Gong’s persecution in the mainland by the CCP, Mr. Zhang said, “(CCP’s) unreasonable persecution lasted for 19 years. This is unimaginable in a democratic society. It is necessary to stop persecution immediately!” He added at last, “Your persistence is very important! Falun Gong, Come on!”
Vietnamese Immigrant: I Want to Practice
Mr. Quang, a Vietnamese citizen who immigrated to Australia in the 1980s, learned the truth about Falun Gong and signed to help stop persecution. He stood in front of the Falun Gong practitioners' demonstration site for a long time. He said, "This is a really good practice. It should not be persecuted. Falun Gong is very peaceful, I want to practice."
Parade in Melbourne Touched Everyone
At noon on July 14, some Falun Gong practitioners in Melbourne held a parade in the city center to commemorate the 19th anniversary of Falun Gong’s anti-persecution.
The weather was very good and sunny as it is winter in Melbourne.
With the leading Tian Guo Marching Band, the parade departed from Queen Victoria Park at 12:30. Many tourists and citizens have stopped to watch on both sides of the street. Many people use their mobile phones to take photos and videos and learn about Falun Gong.
There are mourning teams in the parade to commemorate Falun Gong practitioners who have been persecuted to death by the CCP in 19 years; there are also beautiful floats and peaceful exercises; the finale is waist-drum troupe with bright colors in blue, clean white, and bright yellow. They displayed the beauty of Falun Gong and the rationality and harmony of Falun Gong cultivators.
On July 20, 1999, former Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin could not tolerate more than 70 million Falun Gong practitioners practicing Falun and arbitrarily ordered persecution. According to statistics, in the past 19 years, at least 4,226 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death, and countless Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, sentenced, tortured and even having their organs harvested.
However, in the past 19 years, Falun Gong practitioners have not been afraid of that and insisted on holding the anti-persecution activities. They have used rationality and peaceful means to tell the truth to expose the lies of CCP and inspire the conscience of the world.
In the parade, Falun Gong practitioners hold banners to expose truth. “Communism’s Ultimate Goal Is to Destroy the Human Race”, “Falun Dafa Is Good”, “The World Needs Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance” and “Humanity’s Only Hope Is to Return to Tradition” are very impressive.
Western Tourist: Autocratic Power is not Incapable of Inciting Hatred
Chris and Joan are from the suburb of Sydney. They said that they had watched Shen Yun performance in Canberra, so they learned about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Joan said, "As Christians, we very much agree with the principle of 'truthfulness-compassion- tolerance' that Falun Gong practitioners follow. This is the value that the world needs."
They expressed their great admiration for the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners to fight persecution for 19 years. When it was learned that more than 300 million Chinese people had publicly declared to quit CCP organizations, both Chris and Joan expressed their excitement. In particular, Chris believed that the autocratic power is not incapable of inciting hatred.
"This is genocide, and the culprits should be brought to justice." Jim Haw is a drug sales representative. The parade and the truth made him cry.
"My first feeling is that the persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners is no different from the way that Hitler treated Jews before World War II and during World War II. It is such a shame that a regime (the CCP) treat the people like this. And for 19 years, it is still happening. That is so terrible,” he said. “Our government or other governments should really help Falun Gong practitioners to end this.”
"The truth that the parade shows makes me sad," he said, whining. "People are losing their lives. This is genocide. People can't just stand by and those persecutors should be brought to justice." "This atrocity should be stopped as soon as possible."
Xiao Zhong and Xiao Qiu, who travelled from Taiwan to Melbourne, stood on the side of the road and watched the Falun Gong’s parade. They think that such a peaceful parade was rational. The team hold the banner of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance". It also made Xiao Qiu resonate. Xiao Qiu said, "I think compassion is very important, it is the kindness to treat others."
Xiao Zhong said, "If this group does not harm other people, then it should not be suppressed." For CCP’s directing Tiananmen’s self-immolation and inciting people’s hatred of Falun Gong to maintain persecution, Xiao Zhong thinks this is the tactic used by the CCP government. She said, "I remember watching a movie, which is similar. The movie is about that the Chinese government has tried to create some turmoil. Then the turmoil is actually going to let the people hate the group that the government wants to eliminate."
Xiao Qiu totally agreed with his friend Xiao Zhong. He said, "The CCP has done so many things to persecute others. This is actually wrong and should be condemned."
Mary watched the parade for a long time from the roadside. She said, "I am very happy to see that the Chinese can stand up bravely, show their faith, and defend their belief. I never saw other Asian groups do this." She thinks this is great.
Another Australian lady, Elizabeth, also said, "The parade is so spectacular, it is great! It helps me understand the suffering of the Chinese." Elizabeth often receives leaflets from Falun Gong practitioners in the city center and is very sympathetic about Falun Gong in China. “We all know that the persecution is too cruel," she said.
The parade passed Chinatown and marched to the state library at 1:40pm.
Before the start of the parade, in order to help people better understand Falun Gong, some Melbourne practitioners did exercises in Queen Victoria Park early in the morning. The peaceful movements showed the infinite beauty of Falun Gong.
19 years Resistance to Persecution, Rally held in Auckland New Zealand
Wang Jiuchun, a former associate professor at Tsinghua University, was deeply affected by allergic asthma. However, in 1994, asthma that had plagued her for many years disappeared because she began to practice Falun Gong.
Wang Jiuchun said that she has become happier and more productive. However, during the four years from July 21, 1999 to 2003, she was forcibly brainwashed, violently transformed, and monitored for a long time. She was illegally detained at the detention center four times and was illegally sent to a forced labor camp for a year and a half. During her detention, she was persecuted to a state of schizophrenia and suffered various tortures.
Huang Guohua, from Guangdong Province, once engaged in a promising career, and has a very happy family with his wife Luo Zhixiang.
However, after July 20, 1999, his career and family were destroyed by the CCP. He was illegally imprisoned for three years, and his pregnant wife and unborn children were brutally killed.
It happened to Wang Jiuchun and Huang Guohua only because they all practiced Falun Gong.
On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin Group of the Chinese Communist Party launched a severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who follow the principle "truthfulness-compassion- tolerance" in mainland China. A large number of Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested, tortured, raped, driven to madness, suicide and disappeared. Brutal persecution is happening every day. The CCP even carried out the "crime that has never been seen on this planet" - the organ harvesting. Until now, millions of Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death.
On July 14, 2018, under the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand, Wang Jiuchun and Huang Guohua shared their stories with people passing by. CCP has been persecuting and suppressing Falun Gong since July 20, 1999. In the past 19 years, Falun Gong practitioners have been telling the public about how wonderful Falun Gong is in various ways, explaining the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong and telling people the evil nature of the CCP.
Every year, on the special day of July 20, Falun Gong practitioners around the world use various forms to stop the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
At 11:30 am on July 14th, at the Aotea Square in downtown Auckland, some Falun Gong practitioners from all over New Zealand and Australia gathered here to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the "July 20" Falun Gong anti-persecution. On the same day, several guests and Falun Gong practitioners spoke at the rally to protest against the CCP’s 19-year brutal persecution of Falun Gong and called on the international community, governments and people to disintegrate the CCP.
Well-known Human Rights Lawyer: People Participating in Persecution Must Be Brought to Justice
Kerry Gore, a well-known New Zealand human rights lawyer, has helped about 200 Falun Gong practitioners seek asylum in New Zealand in the past decade.
At the rally, Gore said that since the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999 Falun Gong practitioners have suffered various forms of persecution, such as illegal arrests, illegal detention, brainwashing, mental torture, forced labor and slavery, and even the murder allowed by CCP – organ harvesting.
"In the process, the CCP has violated various international human rights laws. The New Zealand government also recognizes this persecution (which is true) and therefore provides refugee status to Falun Gong practitioners." Gore said that despite this unprecedented persecution, Falun Gong practitioners insist on their right to freedom of belief. They have been working hard, at the expense of their own lives, to tirelessly tell the Chinese people the facts of persecution and expose CCP’s lies.
He said, "Those who instigate, implement or participate in persecution must be brought to justice and they are responsible for their crimes. Only in this way can we respect the rule of law and meet the requirements of justice."
Democracy Activist: All People who Care about Human Rights and Justice Should Support Falun Gong
Mr. Yu, a democracy activist, also came to the rally. He said that in the past, he did not pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and the removal of organs by live bodies. Later, he and human rights lawyers participated in some activities and saw many human rights lawyers as Christians defended Falun Gong but their families were broken.
He said that he believes that the resistance to persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is something that all people who care about human rights and justice should support. He said, "No matter who is persecuted, we should appeal to him, let alone such a big group like Falun Gong." At the same time, he also wants to take this opportunity to make appeals to the human rights lawyers who have been suppressed in the mainland.
People: Very Touched about Falun Gong Practitioners’ Resistance to Persecution
Auckland local resident Pat Shaw told reporter that she was very touched when she saw Falun Gong practitioners gathering to stop persecution. She said that she had known about the persecution of Falun Gong very early. The persecution initiated by the CCP made her angry. "We don't know where those people who disappeared (Falun Gong practitioners) went, I don't know if they are still alive, we can't know. There are many people arrested and imprisoned, and you never know what the CCP will do to them."
She also said that CCP's action of taking organs from Falun Gong practitioners is very evil. She believes that New Zealanders with conscience should not go to China for organ transplant surgery.
Elizabeth Maryknowles and her friends from the North Island town Helensville stopped and watched the rally for a long time. She said that she did not know Falun Gong before, and she did not know that Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted in China. This time she was shocked by what she saw and heard at the scene. When she heard that Falun Gong practitioners followed the principle of "truthfulness-compassion-tolerance" but suffered severe persecution in China and even were taken the living organs, she said "this is incredible!" She said that she must read the flyers when she got back and learn more about what happened.
After the rally, Falun Gong practitioners paraded, led by the Tian Guo Marching Band.
The magnificent music attracted large crowds to stop and watch. Many people used their mobile phones to record the event. After knowing the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, many people signed the petition to stop the persecuting of Falun Gong practitioners.
