[PureInsight.org] Taiwan's Minsheng News published an article on May 16, 2004 with a large headline, "Falun Gong's Achievement in Improving Taiwanese People's Health." The report featured the research results from Dr. Hu Yu-Whuei, Assistant Professor of Medical Economics at the Department of Economics and institute of International Economics at the National Dong Hwa University. At the end of 2002, more than 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners from all over Taiwan had participated in the random-sample health research questionnaire designed by Taiwan's Department of Health, Executive Yuan, Taiwan, R.O.C. Compared with the average score of 70-80 points out of 100 in the Department of Health survey in 2001, the average score of Falun Gong practitioners participating in this survey was above 90 points.

After reading the news, many people hurried to the National Taiwan University to attend the second day of 2004 Future Science and Culture Congress event.

Most of the morning speakers focused their research on illustrating the belief that matter and mind are one. Their research included the energy field of microscopic matter, the confirming the existence of the spirit, the correlation between one's thought and one's surroundings and other correlations.

The audience utilized the tea breaks to view the "Pure Insights into the Modern Age" Poster Exhibit outside the auditorium. Falun Gong practitioners compiled the contents and photographs of the posters from publications of Zhengjian.org that were related to the theme of the 2004 Future Science and Culture Conference.

In the afternoon, experts and scholars in the field of Chinese traditional and Western medicine presented their speeches. They explained the benefits of spiritual cultivation for physical health. Additionally, they revealed historical records of ancient Chinese medical doctors in which they predicted such bizarre epidemics as SARS that plagued China in 2003.

In the final part of the seminar, experts and scholars shared their views and suggestions for a new direction for future science, inspired by prophecy and cultivation.

Finally, when the floor was opened for discussion, the speakers and the audience held a spirited, enthusiastic exchange. Because the audience longed for additional information from the participating experts and scholars, the host extended the seminar more than 30 minutes to acquiesce to the audience's request. When the seminar concluded, the audience still didn't want to leave. Many of them kept asking for a complete compilation of all the speeches and the contents of the posters in the "Pure Insight of the Modern Age" Poster Exhibit.

There was another interesting occurrence during the seminar. When the attending monks and others in the audience learned that most of the coordinators, participating scholars, and experts cultivate in Falun Dafa, they asked for information about it from the Falun Dafa practitioners who attended the seminar. Some audience members even bought copies of Zhuan Falun at the seminar. Comments of "Falun Dafa is very good" were heard frequently.

For days following the conclusion of the 2004 Future Science and Culture Conference, people continued contacting the organizinf committee via telephone and email, asking for information about the reports and Falun Dafa. Following the seminar, some audience participants expressed their gratitude toward the preparation committee and Taiwan's Falun Dafa Association for their hard work in hosting this seminar for Taiwan's general public.

These are signs that modern people are seeking new hope and direction in their lives. Perhaps Falun Dafa will be in the forefront of this new movement.
