Understanding of Cultivation: Do Things and Get Along with People

An Overseas Dafa Practitioner

PureInsight | January 17, 2008

[PureInsight.org] I have often
felt that I did not have enough time and yet I had so many things to
do. Thus, I showed impatience when dealing with people since I was
afraid of losing time and that would affect what I need to accomplish.
It was the same for Dafa projects as for my daily work.

Recently, a small event changed my view.

Not too long ago, I went to see the Holiday Wonders show with my wife
who does not cultivate. At the intermission, I met a fellow
practitioner who I had not seen for a long time. My fellow gave me and
my wife warm greetings. Then he started to chat with us casually for a
while.

This practitioner always has many things to do. I know if I were he, I
would not have chatted so long. Maybe, I will just say a couple of
words of greeting and leave. But I know the way he acted was the best
way for my wife, who is not a practitioner, to think about Dafa from a
more positive angle.

After chatting for a while, they started to talk about the show. My
wife expressed her positive opinions on the show. The fellow
practitioner also answered some of my wife's questions appropriately.
We talked a little more and then went back to our own seats to see the
second half of the show.

Recalling this event, I am much moved. It is important to do what one
needs to do, no matter whether it is Dafa projects or things involving
ordinary work or daily life. However, I feel that it is even more
important to know how to treat people during the process of doing
things. In front of everyday people, their eyes will catch how you do
things. In addition, your language and your actions will directly
influence how they feel about Dafa.

So no matter how urgently you need to do your work, it must not surpass
how you treat people who are involved in your project.  Because
the ultimate goal of doing all those things is to save people, your
thoughts and your behavior all will have some effect. There is nothing
coincidental in your cultivation path. If you can not deal with these
things properly, you may push people one step away from Dafa no matter
whether you succeed or not at your task.
