Exploring the Truth of the Universe Below the Surface
Zhang Jinghua, Professor of News Research Institute, National Taiwan University

I am a professor of news research. Henry Pulitzer, the respectable founder of the Pulitzer Prize, holds that there are three major goals of news - the first one is to report truthfully; the second is also to report truthfully; the third one is still to report truthfully. However, what is the "truth?"

British philosopher Sir Arthur Eddington illustrated the limitations of modern science. He said that a marine biologist spent a lot of time fishing in the deep sea with a six-inch mesh fishing net, so that he could study marine life. In the end, the marine biologist hypothesized that all fish are more than six inches long.
Scientists may devote their lives to their careers, but their findings in the end have certain limitations that cannot be overcome.

Albert Einstein, one of the great scientific minds of our time, once said that he was just like a child picking up shells on the seashore in his later years. He said that one thing he learned in his lifetime, was that all our sciences were primitive and simple when compared to reality.

The cases in the book, Removing the Veil from Prehistoric Civilizations are possibly like those marine creatures under six-inches in length, drifting in the vast ocean and being found by children picking up shells on the seashore by accident. For example, a fossil with a shoe imprint on the top of a trilobite, huge pyramid relics in the deep sea, and nuclear reactor from two billion years ago, a lost Mayan calendar, paintings and carvings of humans and dinosaurs, relics of ruin and destruction of human civilizations and the like are all examples of discoveries found that have not been explained by modern sciences.

From the perspective of accepted science, these discoveries might be considered unorthodox. Some people may claim that they are not "scientific." However, the achievements of orthodox science are nothing more than the products of the six-inch fishing net. On the other hand, those orthodox scientific discoveries from present day were once regarded as heterodox. Who has the right to determine which truth is absolutely correct?

Do human beings depend on just a six-inch fishing net to understand the world? How do we improve the mesh of our fishing nets, so that we can learn more truth about the universe? Removing the Veil from Prehistoric Civilization contains many archaeological discoveries which are "below six-inches" in their research. The cases are very interesting, and the writing is vivid and complemented with rare photographs. The sources of information were carefully cited. The book is great for popular science reading and good for people of all ages.

The examples presented in the book allow the reader to see past the limitations of science. From many examples, we know many surprising phenomena in the universe that are "below six-inches."

Suggestions at the end of the book to expand modern science's research are very interesting. There is a way called cultivation, namely, to cultivate one's heart to become an enlightened being. Through cultivation, you may be able to have a finer fishing net. Why not give it a try after reading this book?

My Wish Is to Be an Immortal.
Zhong Gulan, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Donghai University

Storybooks were my favorite things to read when I was a child. I could keep reading for half a day. I liked the stories about ancient immortals the most. Hermits in the remote mountains and forests had powerful skills. They could not only climb walls and leap onto roofs, but also come and go without leaving any trace. Moreover, they were immortal. I envied them very much. My wish in my little heart wasn't to be a professor when I grew up, but to be a recluse and a powerful immortal. If I was not happy at home or was at odds with my mom at that time, I wished I could leave home with just some clothes to look for a master and to learn supernormal skills in the mountains.

In middle school my favorite book was Star Story, which helped me begin to understand the immense and boundless universe. I remember that I was overwhelmed by one paragraph of the book. It talked about splendid starlight that we could see with our naked eyes, and how it actually started its travels millions of years ago before its arrival on the earth, since the distance between galaxies in outer space and the earth is very large. Although light travels extremely fast, it still takes it a very long time for it to reach the earth. I felt sad that people can not see the light that remote stars are emitting right now. It can only be seen by people living hundreds of millions years in the future. By that time I will be dust and gone from the earth. When I thought about this idea, I felt a chill up my spine. This was the first time I realized that human beings were so insignificant when compared to the vast universe and time-space. I also felt a nameless panic because I couldn't understand the concept of death. Later on I became a believer in Western science due to the influence of my modern education. Because of my successful academic career I believed everything in textbooks without any doubts. As for deities and ghosts, I thought that they were all superstitions.

After having a bit of life experience, learning about ever-present love, hatred, sentimentality, sadness, birth, age, sickness, and death, I felt deeply that living in the human world was really full of suffering and meaningless. With doubts and curiosity, I started to come across some essential questions such as why human beings were born and where will they go after death.

After I started to explore and search for the true meaning of my life, my experiences and knowledge accumulated little by little and overthrew my materialistic scientific beliefs. For example, remains of some notable figures from the Buddha school are indestructible after death and they could even foretell when they would pass away. Some people carried memories of previous lives after birth. Some people could clearly tell their experiences about repeated reincarnations when treated with hypnosis. Some people who had near-death experiences (NDE) shared the same experience that souls came out from their bodies and visited other dimensions. I realized that many things couldn't be seen unless one believes in other dimensions, deities and ghosts. Some things are invisible and intangible, but if you refuse to recognize them you will find yourself caught in a paradox.

In fact, modern science has already verified the existence of the soul, reincarnation, deities and Buddhas. Human beings are just too conservative and stubborn. Humans stick to the old systems for comfort, rather than pull down the scientific castle we worked so hard to establish. This is a human flaw. All of my doubts in life were clarified and explained when I was cultivating Falun Dafa.

The book, Removing the Veil from Prehistoric Civilization, is a wonder filled and supernatural storybook. It is just like the storybooks that I read during my childhood. It includes a picture of a mummy with a man-made heart, the theory that the moon is a man-made satellite, studies on the Mayan civilization, and faults in evolution theory. These stories can guide help people to break through the trap of pseudoscience, and allow us to think about the true mysteries of life.

If the book cannot fulfill your curiosity or you are interested in questions raised in the book, the book Zhuan Falun by Mr. Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Dafa, provides fundamental answers that are truly high-level and can help broaden your horizon.

Living in Mistakes
Zhang Qingxi, Professor of Economics, National Taiwan University

Dinosaurs are ancient animals. Based on the opinions of current human beings, modern people are thought to be advanced and ancient people to be backward, the more ancient, the more backward. On the other hand, according to the evolutionists timeline, human beings had not evolved into Homo sapiens during the age of the dinosaurs. Therefore, if somebody claims that human beings rode dinosaurs, people will not listen.

This is how current textbooks look at this issue. But this kind of understanding isn't accurate. One may say, how could that be possible?

The book Removing the Veil from Prehistoric Civilization includes many scientific discoveries, some of which our textbooks haven't included, and different analyses of seemingly definitive issues. Actually these discoveries are significant enough to change our textbooks. However, once human beings developed their understandings and notions, these things died hard. We call them prejudices or first impressions, and people usually say that those who have prejudice towards something look at things with "colored glasses."

Due to fixed notions, people refuse to believe what they see by themselves or selectively believe the part(s) of a thing that they want to believe. So, open your mind, open your heart, and get ready to know the world again!

Understanding the Origin of Human Beings
Liu Zhengyi, Professor and Provost of National Zhongxing University

On the surface, evolutionism is a mainstream theory that looks like an academic issue. However, it has a very deep impact on human beings. If human beings truly believe that they evolved from apes and do not believe in the existence of gods and Buddha, they will not be regulated and restricted by any moral standards. They refuse to believe that evil will be met with evil. If people always place labels like enigma and superstition on things they cannot understand, this will in turn hinder them from knowing the current world. They cannot make any breakthroughs in science. What is more important is that human beings dare to do any bad deeds that are against the heavenly principles because they do not believe in the existence of gods and Buddha. The extinction of human beings on past earths was by no means accidental.

The book sorts out a lot of evidence that is based on solid scientific findings and archaeological discoveries. All cases point out the shortcomings of current widely accepted evolutionism, one of many human origination theories. After reading this book, readers will not only enhance their knowledge of archaeology but also break through their prejudices in the area of human history and learn something about the origin of humanity.
