Stories from a Long Term 24-hour Vigil at a Chinese Consulate

UK Dafa Disciple

In the UK, Dafa disciples' twenty-four hour vigil in front of the Chinese consulate has lasted more than one hundred days. The weather has changed from hot to cold. During the night, the cold wind blows, but the touching experiences with passersby warm our hearts.

One weekend evening, under a starry, moonlit sky, we practitioners endured a cold wind as we sent forth righteous thoughts. Afterwards we saw a middle aged western man sitting quietly on the stairs behind us. A practitioner went to thank him for joining us and to ask if he would sign the petition. He said he had already signed it. He lived nearby and saw practitioners regularly. He said, "You are so great to persist in this 24-hour vigil for more than one hundred days, and you arrange everything very well."

The practitioner told him, "Everybody comes here voluntarily. We are doing this out of our own free will. Our common goal is to call for the end of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China. We are not an organization; we all help each other."

He replied, "That's even better." He wanted to sit with us longer. He had already sat with us quietly in the cold wind for more than an hour.

Another frigid night, while a practitioner was doing the sitting meditation, she heard a child say, "Excuse me." She opened her eyes to see a car stopped at a traffic light. About three or four children smiled and waved to her from the windows. Their smiles warmed her and seemed to drive away the cold wind for the rest of the night.

One afternoon, when several practitioners were sending righteous thoughts, a middle aged woman walked behind us from the opposite side of the road and stood there for awhile. When she was about to leave, a practitioner who was handing out pamphlets went to say hello to her. She said, "Every time I pass by, I like to stand here for several minutes." This is a common occurrence. Good people can feel the compassionate field around Dafa practitioners and are drawn to it.

One evening, the Chinese Consulate entertained guests. The traffic was busier than usual, and there were more policemen in the vicinity. We practitioners just studied the Fa and sent forth righteous thoughts as usual. After awhile, one of the policemen walked over from the consulate across the street and asked if he could read the posters. He hoped his presence would not make us nervous. He read the posters quietly for more than half an hour and signed the petition. He then had a very friendly chat with us.

We told him that the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong is the most evil persecution in the world. Although it seems that they are persecuting only the good people who practice Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance in Mainland China, they are actually persecuting the most beautiful, universal moral values. Their assault on human virtue endangers all human beings.

The policeman nodded his head in agreement and frequently replied, "Yes." After he talked to a little practitioner who told him about his own experience, the policeman said, "I want to try Falun Gong, too."
