[PureInsight.org] Currently, the mighty momentum of the Fa-rectification has reached a point where its effects are becoming profoundly manifest at the most superficial level of human society. In Chinese society, those bearing the immediate brunt of this are evidently the wicked individuals who viciously slander the Master and undermine Dafa—including officials and rogue police officers at all levels of the CCP’s "610 Offices" and government agencies who actively persecute Dafa practitioners, as well as various other active followers and participants. Next in line are ordinary people burdened by heavy karma who have not yet freed themselves from the entanglement of the evil Communist spirit through the "Three Withdrawals." The elimination of these individuals takes various forms; the most shocking among them is sudden death—a phenomenon of the "dropping dead in the streets" seen only during the years of catastrophic calamities in history—which is now claiming the lives of many, including young people, and leaving hospitals across the country overwhelmed in China.
This great wave of elimination has also extended to the community of Falun Gong practitioners. Upon hearing that several fellow practitioners have recently passed away in succession—some of whom were even under the age of 60—some practitioners have begun to worry whether they, too, might face elimination. How should we view this issue? In truth, the Master revealed the reasons behind such eliminations long ago in His various Fa lectures. Only by truly understanding the underlying causes of these eliminations can we respond correctly—thereby ensuring that, in the process of assisting the Master in Fa-rectification, we can awaken more of the world's people by clarifying the truth, helping them break free from the evil Communist spirit and embrace Dafa to gain a new life, while simultaneously establishing our own mighty virtue, all the way to Consummation.
I. Correctly Understanding the Trials of Eliminating Karma and Life-and-Death Tests Faced by Dafa Disciples During the Fa-Rectification Period
Master explained in Teachings From a Tour of North America in March 2002 that Dafa disciples primarily consist of three groups of people, who became Dafa disciples in three distinct batches. The first batch originates from very high levels and vast celestial bodies; having signed a covenant with Master, they descended alongside Him to rectify the Law of the cosmos. The "King of Light"—known in the human world as Song Guangming—as depicted in the film Once We Were Divine, is one such individual. The second batch hails from the distant celestial realm of Great Domes, a cosmos home to a vast, immeasurable multitude of sentient beings; they came to ensure that, amidst the Fa-rectification and the cosmic restructuring of the entire universe, they would not be left behind, thereby enabling the sentient beings of their home realm to attain salvation. These individuals entered the Three Realms and arrived on Earth during various historical epochs, establishing a karmic bond with Master through the principle of "each emperor having his own court" and other diverse means. The third batch consists of those who "entered while Dafa was being spread this time, because the door has been wide open and a lot of people with fairly good inborn quality have entered, too. " (Cited from Teachings From a Tour of North America) The majority of these practitioners, too, originate from very high levels.
Later, Master stated in Fa Teaching on World Falun Dafa Day - Given at the 2014 New York Fa Conference, “Those who followed Master to descend here, or formed ties of destiny with Master in different periods of history, those people were cleansed of their karma in each lifetime before reincarnating again.” My understanding is that this explains why some fellow practitioners rarely encounter illness or calamity—to the point where even the Chinese Communist Party police avoid them. Then, how about the third group of people? Master said in Fa Teaching on World Falun Dafa Day - Given at the 2014 New York Fa Conference, “And these people, which are the third group of practitioners I referred to before, did not systematically eliminate their karma over the course of history.” Because no systematic arrangement was made for these students to eliminate karma, the difficulties they face during cultivation were immense. Although the karma accumulated over countless lifetimes has been dispersed by Master across various stages of their cultivation and among their family members, the remainder is still as vast as a towering mountain. Consequently, they must still pass through all manner of karma-eliminating tribulations—some of which even involve life and death. And when facing such life-and-death trials, will they be able to maintain their steadfast faith in Master and the Fa, and successfully make it through?
Master pointed out in Fa Teaching Given at the 2004 Chicago Fa Conference, regarding some individuals among the third group, “But in actuality, how they have acted hasn’t been that satisfactory. Even today there are people whose conduct in their personal lives is not at all that of a cultivator; as for people like that, no matter how many things you do, you can’t Consummate.” So, will those who exhibit absolutely no behavior befitting a cultivator be eliminated during the Great Elimination? Of course, those who subsequently make a complete change and rectify themselves in accordance with the Fa would likely be exceptions to this.
II. Denying the Elimination Arranged by the Old Forces
Apart from the three types of people mentioned previously, there is actually a fourth type of person within the community of Falun Gong practitioners. Master pointed out in Fa Teaching Given at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference, “The old forces arranged it so that some people of their own choosing would come in [to Dafa]. Those people seem to be cultivating Dafa, and some even appear very diligent, but in fact they came in under the old forces’ arrangements to enable those things to happen when the time came.” “For instance, they arranged for certain students to appear sick at certain times, and for certain students to depart first at a certain time.” “It was the old forces’ intention all along to weed out those beings. So, they made them commit sins by doing things that would interfere with Dafa—that’s the role they wanted them to play.”
Master also pointed out in Fa Teaching Given at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference, “Among my Dafa disciples there are some who were used and deceived by them in the past. For example, [they might have said,] “For you to reach Consummation, you will have to do such and such at this or that time.” There are cases like that. That’s why the true and fake ones are mixed together, and it’s difficult to tell right away which ones have come to stir up trouble and which ones are Dafa disciples.” In other words, even those great Dafa disciples who, with immense courage, followed Master down to the human realm may still fall victim to deception. Why is it that they can be deceived?
Master stated in Fa Teaching Given at the 2002 Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A, “The truth is that some of you have reincarnated time and time again over the course of history, and while you were in human society, lost in delusion, you might very well have signed some kind of pact with the old forces, like for example, ‘During the Fa-rectification I will do such and such or take such and such path on a certain day.’ At that time, within the laws of the old Fa it seemed absolutely correct, so a few of you students have signed that type of pact, and that’s why from time to time some things happen among our Dafa disciples. ... why didn’t Master’s countless Law Bodies and the countless righteous gods who safeguard the Fa do anything about it? It’s because some of our Dafa disciples signed some sort of pact with the old forces back in history, and so the old forces have latched onto this fact with a death grip and won’t let go.”
Because those individuals introduced by the old forces—as well as certain Dafa disciples—had historically signed agreements with the old forces, there is a possibility that they could all be eliminated in accordance with the old forces' arrangements. Does the fellow practitioner I mentioned at the beginning—who had always been very diligent yet passed away recently before reaching the age of 60—fall into this category? If we did indeed sign agreements with the old forces in history, what should we do?
Master told us in Fa Teaching Given at the 2002 Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A, “As I just said, even if sometime in history you did sign some kind of pact, if today your righteous thoughts are very strong, you don’t recognize it, and you insist on not taking part in it, then you can in fact reject it. …… because in Fa-rectification Dafa doesn’t acknowledge the old forces’ arrangements, and I, as your Master, don’t acknowledge them either. Of course, each one of our Dafa disciples says that we don’t recognize the old forces’ arrangements, but that’s not something you just say—you have to follow the requirements of Dafa and the Fa-rectification. ‘I absolutely will not acknowledge any of those things you arranged in the past, old forces. I don’t even acknowledge you.’ When your righteous thoughts are very strong you can purge it and you can reject their arrangements.”
Master further pointed out in Fa Teaching Given at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference, “Whether you are arranged by the old forces or a Dafa disciple who was deceived by the old forces, once you’ve read my Fa and become my disciple, you are a Dafa disciple, and you don’t acknowledge any of the arrangements the old forces made. Then I will be responsible for you.”
Speaking for myself—since I do not know whether I may have signed any agreements with the old forces in the course of history—when sending forth righteous thoughts, in addition to negating the old forces’ arrangements, I also add a phrase, “Completely dissolve any potential covenants with the old forces.” I must not allow the old forces to seize upon this point.
III. Fulfilling One’s Vows to the Divine
Master pointed out in Dafa Spiritual Practice Is Serious, “When each person joined the ranks of Fa-rectification Dafa disciples, their knowing side made a vow to, and signed a pledge with, the Divine, and they swore by their very soul that they would fulfill the historic mission that a Dafa disciple should shoulder, so they have since been outside the authority of the Three Realms. And therefore I, your master, removed the names of all Dafa disciples from the ledgers of the Three Realms, of the Human Realm, of the Netherworld, and even of Hell. The lives of Dafa disciples have ever since been in Dafa’s hands only, and freed from reincarnation; even those with sins are no longer bound for Hell. Spiritual perfection awaits those who do well in their practice. They will return to their position in the New Universe, where they will govern a Heavenly Kingdom of their own. Those who do not succeed in their self-cultivation, violate their vows, or sin against the Great Way will have to meet with the consequence that accords with the promise they made with their souls!” “You were able to join in the practice back when you did because you had made a pledge with your life. It doesn’t matter how old you are or however long ago it may have been; vows are a solemn thing. What this means is that, for those who are saying they no longer practice, it doesn’t matter if you left Dafa long ago or recently: you need to make good on your vow even if you don’t practice anymore.”
Although the vast majority of us fellow practitioners have not opened our Celestial Eyes—and thus do not know what vows we originally made to Master—our ability to become Dafa disciples during this period of the Fa-rectification is by no means a coincidence. We have arrived during a magnificent epoch of cosmic Fa-rectification—an event rarely encountered throughout the ages and unprecedented since the very inception of the cosmos. Some of us made vows to Master when we descended to this world alongside Him; others made vows when we traveled from distant, boundless celestial realms to make a karmic bond with Master and participate in the Fa-rectification; and still others joined after Dafa began to be publicly disseminated, yet our understanding sides also made vows to Master. Personally, while studying the Fa, there have been many times when, as I read Master’s articles, I would become inexplicably overcome with emotion—my eyes welling up with hot tears—until I was sobbing so hard I could no longer continue reading. I know that this is the surging reaction of my understanding side. Regardless of which group I belong to—or when I joined—I am convinced that my understanding side must have made vows to Master, perhaps even on multiple occasions. And as for me in this human body—deep within my heart—I, too, have resolved countless times and made countless vows.
So, what are the consequences of breaking an oath? The film Once We Were Divine offers us a cautionary example. In the movie, Lord Haiyue—known in the human realm as Zhao Haifeng—descends to the mortal world, where his mind becomes clouded by worldly fame and gain, ultimately leading to his elimination. Why did he fail to attain enlightenment? The film reveals that the true thoughts of those who squander their allotted time, those who lose their way amidst worldly distractions, and those who stray onto the demonic path become ensnared by "Heart-Locking Chains." Lord Haiyue arrived late when the King of Kings was imparting the celestial Law; subsequently, upon entering the human realm, he became so entangled in fame, gain, and sentimentality that his true thoughts were bound by these chains, leaving him unable to extricate himself. As a result, not only was he himself eliminated, but—as one can readily imagine—the celestial realm awaiting his return, along with all the sentient beings within it, were likewise annihilated into oblivion. We should take this as a solemn warning, cultivating ourselves with diligence and unwavering effort until we achieve Consummation, thereby carrying our own celestial realm into the new universe.
IV. Cultivate as if Just Beginning, and Surely Attain Righteous Attainment.
Speaking of cherishing one’s path of cultivation: it has been a full 31 years since I obtained the Fa in the spring of 1995. My journey on this path has truly been a bumpy one—one might even say I have made it this far by stumbling and crawling along. Looking back, however, there are indeed many experiences along the way that are deeply worth cherishing.
I remember that in the early days after obtaining the Fa, the sense of relief and liberation I felt after tossing all my other qigong books—along with some pornographic videotapes—into the trash bin was absolutely exhilarating!
I recall the wonderful sensation of being completely free of illness and feeling light as a feather after discarding the large bags of pills I had brought with me from China.
I remember the surge of boundless gratitude toward Master that welled up in my heart after I—calmly and without panic—managed to dodge a massive truck on the highway that was bearing down on me, threatening to crush the life out of me!
In the early stages of my cultivation, for over a decade, I rarely dreamed; I slept very little, yet the quality of my sleep was excellent.
Through Fa-study, I came to understand the dangers inherent in using qigong to treat illnesses. Consequently, I let go of the desire to heal others—a desire that had been sparked when I once cured a car-accident victim suffering from partial paralysis by using the so-called "Great Grasping" technique. I felt truly fortunate that I had obtained the Fa in time, thereby avoiding the dangerous path of attempting to heal others at the cost of my own life!
Occasional accidents and mishaps allowed me to perceive the warnings hidden behind them, helping me to shed certain attachments; furthermore, the rapid healing of my injuries following these incidents gave me a firsthand experience of what is truly meant by the word "miraculous."
For six months, I naturally lost the appetize for meat; subsequently, I was no longer attached to meat or food in general. Giving up smoking and alcohol was also a remarkably effortless and decisive process.
Through Fa-study, practicing the exercises, and sending forth righteous thoughts, I successfully eliminated a persistent toothache.
There are, in fact, many, many more such experiences since I have begun my cultivation journey.
However, on this path of cultivation, I deeply feel that I am still far from being diligent enough in every aspect—studying the Fa, practicing the exercises, clarifying the truth, and sending forth righteous thoughts. I have made excuses for myself, reasoning that I live in a remote area and that my spouse and I are the only fellow practitioners here. In reality, there are many things I really should have done but failed to do; does this not amount to delaying the heavenly timing? The thought of this fills me with alarm. Leaving aside for a moment whether I can even achieve Consummation as a result, even if I were to miraculously scrape through and succeed, would my own world not become desolate?
Especially over the past two years, watching short-form video dramas online has consumed a significant amount of my time. I have resolved to stop watching on numerous occasions—only to start up again after a brief hiatus. When I first began watching, I felt I could approach it rationally; I even imagined how I would act in those scenarios in accordance with the requirements of the Dafa (Great Law), treating the experience as a process of cultivating my mind. Later, however, I simply watched for the sake of entertainment; often, I would drift off to sleep with a groggy, heavy head—only to wake up feeling even more plagued by headaches. In the dead of night, I would rise to meditate until the headache subsided somewhat, after which I would go back to sleep for a little while longer. Although I knew full well that this behavior was incorrect, I constantly concocted various excuses to justify it to myself. It was not until recently—when I woke up in the middle of the night and realized I could recall a long, vivid dream—that I finally took the matter with the utmost seriousness; for within that dream, some of the events were directly linked to the storylines of the short videos I had been watching.
I recall reading an article on the Minghui website in which a fellow practitioner with his Celestial Eye opened observed dark entities wafting black energy toward practitioner who were watching drama videos. Since my Celestial Eye is not open, I could not visually perceive whether black energy was indeed assailing me while I watched these short video dramas. However, the fact that my dreams were directly related to the video content indicated that the act of watching these videos was insidiously planting certain concepts within my mind. Moreover, these concepts were not inert; they were living entities that grew increasingly potent within my dreams—that is to say, within my own inner dimensional world. They caused storylines to unfold endlessly, saturating my sleep and preventing me from obtaining the proper rest I needed. It was truly absurd: on one hand, I was sending forth righteous thoughts to cleanse the attachments and negative elements within my various dimensional layers; yet, on the other, I was passively allowing the various human sentiments portrayed in these short video dramas to infiltrate my inner worlds. How could this possibly be considered genuine cultivation? Upon realizing this, I immediately stopped watching the short video dramas. Before going to sleep, I increased the time I spent sending forth righteous thoughts or silently reciting the "Nine True Words" to dispel external interference and these intrusive concepts. Very quickly, I noticed that my headache had vanished. When I sat in meditation again, I was astonished to see visions of "blooming flowers"—phenomena similar to those I had witnessed during the very early stages of my cultivation practice. I recalled that when I first obtained the book Zhuan Falun, I had read it cover-to-cover in a single sitting; yet, nowadays, I was going online to study the Fa only twice a week, for a total of merely three hours. I am determined to strengthen my Fa study, strive to study the Fa every day, let Dafa fill my mind and all my dimensions, so that all kinds of human attachments and distracting thoughts formed later in my life have no place to stand, and let all sentient beings in those microscopic worlds join me in different dimensions to assist Master in rectifying the Fa until consummation.
