[PureInsight.org] Dear editors:

I find the series of "Appreciating Artworks from the Exhibit, 'For a Higher Truth'" to be very educational. For example, I have learned from the following commentary that using a zigzag composition will bring out the magnitude and the power of the giant formation.

Appreciating Artworks from the Exhibit, "For a Higher Truth: A Photographic Tale of Falun Dafa's Principled Resistance: A Graceful Composition

Last week I came across two paintings of Chinese deities when I visited Minneapolis Institute of Arts with my family. The deities in both paintings were presented in a zigzag formation to highlight the magnitude of the gods' gatherings and the awesome magnificence of the gods' presence. I took the opportunity to apply what I have learned and explain to my niece the composition of the two paintings.

Left: "Numerious Treasure Emissaries from a Buddhist land and water from Ming Dynasty in China", Ching Dynasty, China; 16th century; Ink, colors and gold on silk.
Right: "The Exalted Emperors and the Gods of the Five Directions from a Buddhist land and water ritual set", Ming Dynasty, China; 16th century; Ink, colors and gold on silk.

Because I used a low-end camera, I photographed only about 1/4 of the entire paintings. But you can still tell the deities in both paintings are presented in the zigzag formation.
