Mending

[PureInsight.org] The other
day, my one year-old baby snuck into my study room when my laptop was
open. He was tall enough to reach the keyboard and ripped the caps off
two keyboard keys. Although the repair was free of charge since the
laptop was still under warranty, my indolence prevented me from taking
it to be repaired right away.

Although on Saturday I had a chance to visit the shop to have it fixed,
I was too lazy to go. The next day, I started to feel uneasy about it.
The two keys whose caps were removed looked weird and out of harmony
with the entire keyboard. Moreover, dust could easily fall into the
keys and the keyboard would get worn out faster and have to be replaced
sooner. It is like our skin. Even if a broken part of the skin might
not cause big trouble right away, the wound could be invaded by
bacteria if left untreated. Infection and even disease might follow.
When thinking of this, the word "mending" suddenly came into to my
mind.

I cultivate myself in an environment in which the influence of ordinary
people's ideas is everywhere. Each and every small incident I encounter
is a test and an opportunity to eliminate attachments, rectify
incorrect thoughts and improve xinxing.
This in itself is the cultivation process. Dafa practitioners in
Mainland China are challenged by severe persecution by the evils. More
often than not, big damages suffered there were a result of a
practitioner failing to adhere to a practitioner's standard on a small
issue and then failing to pay sufficient attention to mending it. Some
damages even affected the process of Fa-rectification. Likewise, when
practitioners are not strict with themselves in their individual xinxing
cultivation, they fail to reflect on the problems in their own thinking
and behavior, so they are not in a position to patch up loopholes in
their xinxing. This is a
reason for lack of progress in personal cultivation and in carrying out
the "three things" that Master Li has asked us to do.

Through this small incident of the broken laptop keyboard, I discovered
that I tended to avoid hardship. In other words, due to laziness, I did
not want to go out and take the laptop to the repair shop (as it is hot
outside in the summer). The same laziness prevented me from learning
new knowledge and technologies that are valuable in Fa-rectification. I
have been so slacking that the mentality substantially slowed my
progress in self-cultivation, Fa-rectification, and saving ordinary
people. Laziness is such a huge "loophole" for practitioners. It is no
wonder why the higher beings included "laziness" in the seven sins of
mankind.

Upon recognizing that I have this attachment, I went out and had the
keyboard patched up. While I was in the computer store, I also learned
a new technique for keyboard usage and bought a Kaspersky Anti-Virus
software package. When I scanned my laptop with the Kaspersky software,
it found quite a few Trojan viruses. Every day, I use a specific type
of security software to surf the Internet. I can't imagine what the
consequence would be if I didn't eliminate such loopholes in my laptop.
In conclusion, practitioners must be ready to correct shortcomings in
their xinxing and behavior at
all times. That way the old forces will not be able to find a pretext
to "test" us, the evils will not discover any chance to "persecute" us,
and we practitioners will continuously make good progress on our
cultivation path.

The above are only my personal understandings, and I appreciate suggestions and comments from fellow practitioners.
