Some Thoughts on Reading Ordinary People's Books

By a Dafa Disciple from Taiwan

[PureInsight.org] Before
obtaining Dafa, I read some other qigong master's books, and because I
shared the same feelings at the time, I cried. Soon after, strange
phenomena appeared in my eyes. Later on, I came to Dafa because of my
poor health, and upon reading the section about futi (spirit or animal possession) in Zhuan Falun, I came to know where futi
comes from. During the initial period of my practicing the exercises, I
often shed tears when practicing. Several months later, I felt
something flow out with my tears when I was doing the exercises, and
after that, the strange phenomena in my eyes disappeared.

Since the time I obtained the Fa, I often listened to different
practitioners sharing their own ideas about Dafa. I noticed that one
practitioner loves to read ordinary people's books, especially books
about human emotion and feelings because she had trouble with her own
emotional issues, and her problem didn't improve. Here, I would like to
share my personal understanding with fellow practitioners regarding
this issue.

In recent years, popular books have become more and more widespread,
and some people who have no professional background also started to
publish books. In addition, with blogs becoming more popular, I have
found that many articles on the Internet carry futi and the people who write these articles themselves have many complicated emotional issues and karma.

Although the futi mentioned by Master in Zhuan Falun comes mostly from qigong books, I personally feel that Master's words in Zhuan Falun,
"There is a principle in our universe: Nobody will intervene if you
want something yourself," have made it very clear that we should
scrutinize what we read or watch more intensively, whether it be
ordinary people's books, blogs, TV or other media.

For example, the articles spread on the Internet often carry personal
emotion. As a reader, one reads this person's emotion. What has
actually happened is all due to that person's own karma. When you have the same feeling, you also join the side of support. Then what a reader faces is not only the issue of futi coming onto his body, but also becoming one who supports the pouring out of these emotions.

One the three things that Dafa disciples must do every day is "sending
forth righteous thoughts," and this is to help eliminate the
interference and obstacles affecting Dafa practitioners and to clear up
the path of one's cultivation. If a cultivator himself cannot
understand Dafa very well, and with more and more issues obtained from
reading ordinary people's books, his problems in the process of
cultivation will increase. I personally feel that except for technical
books, we have to be cautious when reading other types of books,
because reading ordinary people's books can be a kind of interference
for a cultivator who faces tests.

The above are all my personal understandings and please kindly correct me if I am mistaken.
