A Few Words on Cultivating Cheerfully

A Dafa Practitioner from Taiwa

My personal thought is that “cultivating cheerfully” definitely does not mean acting in a joking or easygoing manner like ordinary people or not being serious. It is not using “conforming with everyday people as much as possible in our cultivation” as an excuse to cover up one’s inability to meet the Fa’s requirements. “Cultivating cheerfully” is to have an optimistic attitude when running into a conflict, not being attached to whether a tribulation is passed well or not. He who cultivates cheerfully “cherishes lofty aims and regards trivial matters”, radiates serenity, is compassionate and makes people want to be friends with him. Yet at the same time, he has the dignity of Dafa, his mighty virtue wins the respect of others and is not too serious, so as to keep people away from him. All this comes naturally and manifests from studying the Fa well. More appropriately, it reflects a harmonizing and noble state of “The Buddha-light illuminates everywhere and rectifies all abnormalities”.
