";Fission"; or ";Fusion";

When first studying Zhuan Falun, intellectuals, particularly those working in science, can often be hindered by their human ways of thinking, and therefore be put off by the usage of certain words or phrases. Thought karma will then be able to find an opportunity to interfere, causing many predestined individuals to give up the study of Zhuan Falun, thus resulting in the “deep and eternal pain and regret” of a living being.

A rather typical example of this kind is the usage of “light year” in Zhuan Falun. In the lectures in Switzerland in 1998, Teacher explained in detail the higher level principles behind it. I felt Teacher’s great compassion and salvation again. From my personal understanding, these words’ appearance in Zhuan Falun as they are is in itself a test of people’s heart. It is because the Great Law of the Universe could not be casually bestowed to humankind. If a person’s attachment to worldly and personal notions is stronger than his or her desire for the truth, then this person could be blinded by one karma and not be able to see the Universe. Then, this person is no longer worthy of obtaining the Great Law of the Universe.

Unfortunately, mankind just wouldn’t be enlightened. At different times, I have heard some “clever” or “smart” people tangled up in some other words in Zhuan Falun, trapped deeply, and not able to make a breakthrough. One example is the usage of the word “fusion,” which is what we are going to discuss below.

“Everyone knows that nuclear fission requires a considerable amount of energy collision as well as a great amount of heat to enable its fusion to occur.” (Zhuan Falun, Lecture One – “Why Doesn’t Your Gong Increase with Your Practice?”)

Many people insist that “fission” should be used here. Here I would like to share my understanding of it at one certain level.

Teacher has told us many times in different circumstances, that modern science has developed from a wrong starting point, and hence many concepts are quite far from the truth. Personally, I think one of the causes for this wrong starting point is that men always have the wishful thinking of wanting to apply what we understood as laws in this shallow dimension of ours to encompass all domains of knowledge. For example, one common experience of human beings in this time-space of human beings is that if you cut up a large piece of bread into many small pieces, people will say that the piece of bread has been “divided” or “split up” (fission) into smaller pieces. When this concept is being applied directly to the process of neutrons and protons being “derived” from nucleus, this process of “generation” and “transformation” has been viewed and termed “fission,” as if a nucleus is simply being “split” up to produce neutrons and protons. This is entirely wrong. The process of changing a large piece of bread into small pieces is fundamentally different from the process of changing nuclei into neutrons and protons. The former is a quantitative change of matter from the same level, whereas the later is a quantum change of matter from a relatively low level (of the nucleus) subliming to matter of a higher level (of neutrons and protons). Teacher has taught us very plainly the principle that the more microscopic the matter, the greater the energy. In view of this principle, one can then appreciate the profound meaning in the use of the word “fusion.” Personally, my understanding is that behind Teacher’s usage of this word here, the way and process of how lower level matter could sublime to higher level matter, within a certain domain or boundary of the universe, is being revealed.
