[PureInsight.org] The Golden Key International Honor Society held an evening reception open to the public before the Thanksgiving holiday at the American University to rescue the orphans of Falun Gong practitioners. The Social Director of the Golden Key International Honor Society at the American University, Ms. Wang Jinwei, was the hostess for the evening. She asked people to bear in mind that while the audiences were united with their families during this happy holiday season, there were a group of children on the other side of the earth who have become orphans because their parents are being imprisoned or have even lost their lives for believing in "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance." Those children who once were the precious jewels of their parents now have become helpless orphans dressed in rags with no one to care for them. They are even being driven out of schools because the Chinese Communists use the cruelest methods imaginable to persecute Falun Gong practitioners and their families. Wang reminded the guess that each one of us has the responsibility and duty to let more kind-hearted people know about the state that these children are in and extend our helping hands to them.

The reception was held on November 20, 2005 in the Wesley Theater on the American University campus. Mr. Keith Ware, from the International Rescue Organization, expressed his hope that with the efforts of people from all walks of life, these orphans would be rescued to the US, while they will be able to enjoy education and warm loving care and be free from tears and living in terror. An eight minute documentary film showing orphan rescue efforts and a movie "Wishes," directed by Ms. Wang Jinwei, were shown. "Wishes" won both the International TV award for students and the American University Film Festival award. The audience quietly wiped their tears as they watched the films.

Dr. Yu Jianmei, the principal of the Washington DC Minghui School, introduced the purpose of establishing Minghui School and the school-sponsored activity, "Children Rescuing Children." While the students who attend the Minghui school live a happy life under ""Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," it is important for them to put in efforts to rescue those orphaned children in Mainland China. Later, she gave a 10 minute photo show with background music displaying the journey of the Minghui School in recent years and introduced their "Children Rescuing Children" Activities. The Minghui School children also demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. The bigger children sang, "I Want To Say A Word," "Shares Hardships," and "Be Saved." The audience was drawn by the elegant exercises and touched by the soft, beautiful, yet meaningful songs.

In the evening's finale, Falun Gong practitioners gave a splendid waist-drum performance and the sound of the drumming shook everyone who was there. Then the Minghui School students presented their hand-made lotus flowers to Ms. Thao, the chairperson of the American Branch of the Golden Key International Honor Society. Ms. Thao indicated that when the reception ended, it was just the beginning, and she would continue her efforts to rescue those orphans in China. Several media include Eagle Press (American University's newspaper), The Epoch Times, New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) , and Sound of Hope Radio Station covered the event.
