Today’s scientific concepts make modern people have a wrong understanding of ancient people’s perception of the cosmos. Viewed from the understanding of modern science, ancient people’s understanding of the cosmos seems to be superstitious and ridiculous. However through cultivation I gradually came to realize that the actual state of the cosmos is closer to the legends of the ancients. It is in fact the modern science’s understanding of the cosmos that is very superficial in scope. Looking back at the development of modern science, we find that the earlier the knowledge of the cosmos, the closer to the truth. Later understandings of the cosmos are very narrow in scope.

Many ancient nations have some descriptions of the world. In ancient times Indian people thought that the world was held up by the heads of four elephants which in turn, stood on the back of a tortoise.

Such a description sounds ridiculous. How can it be possible? If it’s true, isn’t the earth floating in empty space? However if we think carefully, it is not so ridiculous. Since the earth rotates around the sun, who prompted it? Who holds the earth and prevents it from falling? If one says that a tortoise is carrying the earth on its back and swimming in space, it is also a vivid description.

Actually, human eyes can see only a narrow part of the light wave range. Many objects cannot be seen, which has long been verified by science. So how do you know that space is empty? If you think that space is dark and has nothing existing there, this is a serious cognitive obstacle. The darkness is just a state of no visible light detected by the flesh eyes, but it dose not necessarily mean that nothing is there. Possibly there are numerous infrared rays, ultraviolet rays and other wavelengths of light there. We can ponder an interesting question. Infrared rays and ultraviolet rays have a much wider range than visible light, yet even visible light has many colors. If humans could see the infrared and ultraviolet rays, wouldn’t they also have various colors? They would be even more beautiful than the visible light.

In the space that human regards as empty perhaps there really is something leading the earth to move. The ancient Indians thought it was a huge animal. The ancient Egyptians thought that the sky was the body of a Goddess, a body full of stars. In the evening the Goddess would swallow the sun into her stomach and the sky would become dark. At daybreak she would spit out the sun and return it to the earth. They also described the world as a huge living being.

In modern times, people do not make these vivid descriptions anymore. Mechanical thinking replaces such colorful portrayals. Newton thought that the world was like a huge machine, with all objects moving in accordance with certain laws, similar to the gear wheels in a clock, moving against each other tightly. People can therefore predict the movement of other objects by observing the movement of one object. Such an understanding of the world can also be accepted however he forgot to ask who manufactured such a big machine. What’s more, the astounding complexity of this huge machine reaches far beyond human imagination. It cannot be described in a mathematical way. From then on, the idea of a “mechanical” explanation of the cosmos keeps humans separate from the many living beings in the cosmos. Humans only regard animals and plants as living organisms and call them “organic”. Humans regard other objects such as rocks, steels, and celestial bodies as dead and call them “inorganic”.

Only by regarding the cosmos as a living being can we more profoundly recognize the true situation of the cosmos. While apart from the living characteristics of the cosmos, humans are set apart from the origin of their own lives. If we explain the cosmos using the Big Bang theory we can only explain some specific phenomena, but cannot explain many new discoveries.

Different levels have a big difference in their understanding of the cosmos. Actually they are the truth at each of the different levels. Viewed from the human level, the earth rotates around the sun, like a whirlpool. Viewed from a higher-level perspective this whirlpool is caused by a precise machine. Looking into this machine carefully, one will find also the existence of a living being. Some of them are like the dragons in Chinese legends, playing with their dragon ball (the center of the galaxy), rotating around the ball continuously. Their scales are shining, which are those stars all over the sky in the Milky Way. Some galactic systems are not composed of only one dragon, but are composed of four dragons in total. They rotate around the center of the galaxy, which resembles the appearance of a srivatsa. The first picture below was taken with an ultraviolet camera. The blue parts are brighter stars. Doesn’t it look like the srivatsa of the Buddha School?

Some galaxies are composed of two fish, which rotate with one’s tail connected with another’s head, their eyeballs shining (Taichi sign). See the picture below, which shows the M100 galaxy.

Let us look at the third picture, a global cosmic background microwave radiation graph. Doesn’t it looks like a picture of Taiji? Scientists spent four years to put together this picture, which shows the movement of the Local Group Galaxy (nine planets rotate around the sun while the sun rotate around the center of the Milky Way. The Milky Way is located in the center of Local Group Galaxy) versus the cosmos background radiation. This picture indicates that in contrast to the cosmos’ background radiation, the Local Group Galaxy keeps moving with an orbit in the Taiji shape. What does this indicate? Scientists are confused by this phenomenon and can only conjecture that a larger galactic system is influencing the movement of the Local Group Galaxy.

Teacher said in “Zhuan Falun” Chapter Five “The Falun Emblem”, “This universe, of course, consists of numerous galaxies including our Milky Way. The whole universe is in motion, and so are all galaxies within it. Therefore, the Taiji symbols and the small srivatsa symbols in the emblem are also rotating. The entire Falun is rotating, and the large srivatsa symbol in the center is rotating as well. In a sense, it symbolizes our Milky Way.” Teacher said, “Since we’re of the Buddha School, why is there also Taiji? Doesn’t Taiji belong to the Tao School?' It is because what we cultivate is very immense, which is the same as cultivating the entire universe. Then think about it, everyone: This universe consists of two major schools, the Buddha School and the Tao School. With either of them excluded, it will not constitute a complete universe, and neither can it be called a complete universe. Consequently, we have included things from the Tao School.”

About the composition of this cosmos, Zhuan Falun gives a clear explanation and makes us clearly understand many phenomenon that have not been understood by scientists yet. From scientist’s measured data we clearly see that because the cosmos is composed of Buddha School and Dao School, some Milky Ways have srivatsa sign of Buddha School while some Milky Ways have Taoism Taiji sign. The Local Group Galaxy indeed rotates around a larger galaxy, which is exactly in a Taiji shape.

Teacher said in “Lunyu”, “If human beings are able to take a fresh look at themselves as well as the universe and change their rigid mentalities, humankind will make a leap forward. 'The Buddha Fa' enables humankind to understand the immeasurable and boundless world. Throughout the ages, only 'the Buddha Fa' has been able to perfectly provide a clear exposition of humanity, every dimension of material existence, life, and the entire universe” The truth of the universe is too wonderful for words. People can only see the truth through cultivation. The development of science, if it followed the ways of cultivation would also be able to see the profound truths of the universe.
