We Are One Body

A Dafa Dizi

I used to think, "If I do not have any attachments, the evil won't be able to take advantage of any gap in my mind and things will be all right." When other practitioners had attachments or hardships, I did not consider those as damage to the Fa. I thought that they had to deal with it themselves, it's their problem, and someone else would point it out anyway.

But when I turned around and looked at it from another perspective, I wondered whether this type of thinking did not represent my own attachments! I wouldn't say anything from consideration for their feelings and I even questioned whether my own understanding was right nor not. It is possible that this mindset imperceptibly encouraged the demons and prevented practitioners from speaking frankly and sincerely.

Recently I realized that this was not only an issue of personal cultivation practice and getting rid of personal attachments, but also an issue of not understanding the Fa very well. Why do I treat other practitioners' attachments merely as their own attachments? Don't their attachments have something to do with me as well? Teacher said, "You are one body, just like Master's gong" (Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference, 2001). Then I realized that other practitioners' hardships were my own hardships, and their attachments inevitably reflected my own attachments, too. Since we are one body, isn't any disturbance to even a single practitioner equivalent to attacking the Fa? If this is indeed so, then, why shouldn't I send out righteous thoughts to eliminate it and communicate with practitioners with good intentions based on the Fa?

This same issue also reflected in the passive attitude with which I considered the tribulations of Dafa practitioners in China. I grew up in Taiwan. Mainland China appears extremely remote to me. But, this assumption was caused by postnatally acquired notions and regional factors. I didn't understand the tribulations occurring in China from the viewpoint of the Fa. I didn't realize, therefore, that they are directed against Dafa. All Dafa disciples should be one body, and we shouldn't experience separation because of differences in geographical locations.

In the world of humans, all the differences in nationality, culture, gender, age, social class, educational level and so on, should not create barriers among Dafa disciples. In the Fa, we are one body. As soon as I have this thought, all human things seem so tiny. Dafa disciples, every one of us, connect to each other in the Fa-rectification process. An attachment from one particle or the manifestation of one conflict reflects omissions of the whole body. I no longer perceive other practitioners' attachments from a selfish angle. We should communicate frequently, 'encourage each other, and progress together with diligence" (From Master to the Second Dafa Conference in Russia, 2001). When we make concerted efforts, the demon won't be able to find a place to hide! Only then do we deserve the titles of "Fa particles" and "Dafa disciples."

This article expresses my personal understanding. Please compassionately point out any mistakes.
