It's Easy to Distinguish Good from Bad

Over 10 years ago, an old gentleman whom I met only once told a friend of mine that I must be a kind person judging from my appearance, and that it was safe to be my friend. When my friend told me these words, I just laughed, thinking it was absurd. One can find a person's appearance to be pretty or ugly, but how can you judge whether he or she is kind or wicked on the basis of his or her appearance? An ancient Chinese saying goes, "You can paint a portrait of a person or a tiger, but it's difficult to paint their skeletons; you can know a person by his face, but you cannot know his heart." As good or evil is hidden in one's heart, how can a person differentiate only by judging from appearance?

In the early 1990s, when all kinds of qigong practices were very popular in China, the market was filled with books on zhouyi, bagua, fengshui, fortune telling, and so on. I also bought several books on physiognomy and palmistry and studied them for some time. However, apart from some principles that almost everyone knows, I did not gain any insight from those books. I was not really convinced by the content of those books.

In the mid-1990s, I began practicing Falun Dafa. Before long, I felt much healthier and much more energetic than before. About half a year later, I suddenly found that one's facial appearance could display some traces of kindness and wickedness. This kind of feeling I experienced can only be understood by heart, and cannot be described with words. It seems there is another figure hidden behind a person's face. The figure of a kind person is righteous and shiny, while that of an unkind person exhibits little righteousness. And the most direct channel to transmit this information is through one's eyes. Kind people's eyes exhibit purity, serenity and compassion. On the contrary, in an evil person's eyes you can find trickiness, fraudulence, and maliciousness. It's said, "the eyes are windows of the soul." Only then did I realize how true that was.

During my cultivation of Dafa, I have only paid attention to enhancing my xinxing level, and have seldom cared about the special feelings that I often have had. As time goes by, such sentimentality comes and goes, many of which I don't feel any more. But the feeling of kindness and wickedness has lasted all along, and seems to have become an intuition. When I saw practitioners around me cultivating diligently in Fa-rectification, saving sentient beings tirelessly, I can feel the righteousness strengthening incessantly in them every time. Sometimes, I can see the difference every day. When I see all these, I really feel happy for my fellow practitioners.

By contrast, in those evil ones who have been involved in persecuting Dafa and the everyday people who have been cheated by the evil propaganda, the righteousness has been dwindling at an alarming rate, sometimes to the extent of nothing at all. When I see the chief wretch in the Chinese government, his every movement and behavior emanates evil and viciousness. The persecution of Dafa by those evil ones has destroyed the righteousness in our tradition and culture that had lasted thousands of years, and has doomed our nation to great catastrophe. In this battle between the righteous and the evil, the evil is doomed to fail because it is a perpetual cosmic principle that evil can never defeat justice. All good and evil will meet the rightful retribution that they deserve.
