"Would You Pray for Me?"

[PureInsight.org] The St.
John's worts are beginning to bud and the birds are singing. Immersing
myself in the warm sun of early spring, I cross my legs on a bench in
the park and feel contented.

"Are you meditating?" A middle aged-woman blocks the sunlight asking.

She looks like she might be from Persia. Without wearing a scarf, she
looks somber and her eyes are filled with profound grief. She pointed
to her chest and said: "I feel pain and have too much anger here. I
would like to learn how to do meditation." Without waiting for my
answer, she told me she had read about meditation and knew it was good
for mind and body.

I asked her to sit down and explained to her the key to meditation was
to have a calm mind. Without getting rid of anger, meditation would not
help much.

She said: "I always feel unhappy and have headaches and feel drowsy."
She sighed. Her voice quivered: "I have suffered too much hurt my whole
life. All my anger comes from those hurts."

I recalled reading about Persian women being humiliated by men. I
guessed this sad woman might have suffered from various hurts.

She told me that she was an Iranian and that she had been a believer in
freedom since she was little. She hated to wear a scarf. She once
pulled off her scarf and walked the streets of her hometown for hours.
Later on, she was forced to put the scarf on. Perhaps due to luck, she
was persecuted. To gain freedom, she came to the west and was separated
from her parents and hometown. Even having gained freedom, she still
couldn't shake off her pain.  She wanted to be a good wife and a
good mother. But she couldn't gain respect from men. Her three
marriages fell through because she couldn't endure abuse from men. She
wanted to study medicine, but because of the opposition from her
parents-in-law, she was forced to give up the idea. Now she was alone.
Her only hope was her seventeen year old son in Iran. But for various
reasons, she couldn't join him. She was depressed and felt hatred
towards those who had harmed her. She was often alone in her room and
fantasized. Because of depression, she has been depending on medication.

"If not because of my son, perhaps I would already have left this
world." She sobbed. In the presence of a total stranger, she let her
tears flow silently without any disguise.

I gave her sheets of facial tissues and told her the Buddha principle concerning life.

She listened seriously and gradually she cheered up.

Suddenly she asked me: "Do you know why I came here looking for you?"

I said no. She told me that it was because heaven had inspired her: At
noontime while waiting in a clinic, she looked at a bird outside a
window and suddenly saw a revolving light, which she never saw before.
Later, some force guided her to come here.

Following her description, I drew a Falun on my hand. She nodded in
agreement. I asked her whether it was twelve noon when she saw the
Falun and she said it was about noontime. I realized that it was the
time when Dafa practitioners around the world were sending forth
righteous thoughts.

I asked her whether she had ever heard of Falun Gong. "Falun Gong?" She
repeated the words accurately and said she never heard of it. I told
her that Falun Gong is the highest form of Buddha cultivation methods.
It far exceeds other meditations and people achieve healthy mind and
bodies from practicing it. She said although she was a Muslim, she
wasn't bound by its creed and would accept true principles and means
that would allow her to regain her health.

When we bade farewell to each other, I took out a pamphlet of the
Divine Performing Arts and wrote down the website of Falun Dafa. I told
her to read Zhuan Falun and to go to see the Divine Performance Arts.

She accepted the pamphlet and looked at the exquisite pictures. She
cried out in admiration: "It's truly beautiful! So beautiful!" She
smiled happily, resplendent, like the sun light in the early spring.

She thanked me again and again. She walked a few steps and turned
around suddenly. She asked me sincerely: "Would you pray for me?"

I felt surprised and nodded my head. Looking at her back view, I felt
my eyes moisten. I felt gratful for Master letting me to meet a
predestined person. Although I didn't know her name, I will pray for
her and many many others I do not know. I will wish they open their
hearts and accept Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and secure the
best place for their future.
