Enjoy life

[PureInsight.org] Stephen
thought that he would die of the heat during the first summer he spent
in the Arizona desert. The high temperature of 112 oF almost baked
people.

In April of the second year, Stephen began to worry about the summer. A
hell-like life for 3 months was coming. One day, when he was filling
his car with gas at a gas station in Phoenix, he chatted with the
owner, Mr. Simpson, about the horrible summer here.

"Hey, you can't worry like this about the summer." Mr. Simpson kindly
criticized Stephen and continued: "The fear of high heat only makes the
summer come earlier and end later."

When Stephen was paying the gas, he realized that Mr. Simpson was
right. In feeling the summer was already coming, did not it? It started
the 5 months of craziness.

"You need to welcome the hot summer like getting surprising good news,"
Mr. Simpson said as he gave his change to Stephen. "Never miss the most
beautiful gift that summer brings to us. The uncomfortable things that
summer brings can be avoided if you hide inside a room with an
air-conditioner."

"What is the most beautiful gift that summer brings?" Stephen asked eagerly.

"Have you ever gotten up at 5 to 6 in the early morning? I swear, the
dawn in June is just like a maiden's shy pink face with the sky full of
a beautiful rosy red color. At night in August, stars in the sky are
like floating sea stars in the dark blue ocean.  A person will
truly enjoy the fun of swimming only after he/she has been out in the
114oF heat!"

When Mr. Simpson went to fill another customer's car with the gas, a
service guy who stood on the side said gently to Stephen: "Wow! You
received special service from Simpson - his life philosophy for free."

To Stephen's surprise, Mr. Simpson's words actually had an effect. He
didn't fear the summer any longer. April and May were automatically
separated from the hot summer. When the high heat weather indeed came,
Stephen cut the roses in the heavenly breeze at dawn. In the afternoon,
he and his children slept comfortably at home. In the evening, they
played baseball in the yard and made ice cream to eat. It was so much
fun and the whole summer he has also enjoyed the spectacular unique
sunrise over the desert.

A few years later, Stephen's family moved to the northern Colorado.
Before it was September, the neighbors already started to worry about
the winter. When the big snow truly came in December, their children,
10-year-old David and 12-year-old Tom, were extremely excited. They
were busy rolling snowballs. Neighbors were all standing at the side
and watching these two boys who came from desert and seems to be dull
without ever seeing snow before."

Later, their children sat on a sleigh and slid down from a hill or they
went to a lake to skate. After they got home, the adults and kids all
sat next to the fireplace in Stephen's house and drank hot chocolate
joyfully.

One afternoon, a middle-aged neighbor sighed: "For so many years, we
only knew to shovel the snow. I forgot it could truly bring us so much
fun as well!"

A few years later, they moved back to the desert. Stephen drove to the
gas station. The new owner told him that Mr. Simpson sold his gas
station due to his senior age. He ran a smaller gas station not too far
away from there.

Stephen drove to that place to visit Mr. Simpson and fill up with gas.
He was even skinner with completely grey hair on his head. But his
joyful smile was like before. Stephen asked him how he felt.

"I do not worry about aging." He said as he walked outside through the
shelter: "I hardly got enough time to enjoy the beauty of the life
here!"

He rubbed his hand as he talked: "We have three trees full of pears and
a hummingbird nest outside our bedroom window. Just think about it, the
little bird is smaller than my finger and it looks like a tiny penguin."

He continued while writing the receipt: "In the sunset, the long-eared
hares are running and jumping. When the moon rises, the wolf calves
appear as groups on the hill. I never saw so many wild animals doing
stuff in the spring." As Stephen got in his car and drove off, he
shouted to Stephen: "Go enjoy!"

On the way back home, Stephen's mind was echoing the secret of
happiness that this lovely elder gentleman Simpson has. Of course, life
will bring all kinds of trouble to people, but the important thing is
you need to learn how to discover and enjoy the beautiful things in
your life.
