Our Good or Bad Thoughts Can Influence the People Around Us

A Falun Dafa Practitioner

[PureInsight.org] Recently, I have had several experiences that have clearly shown me that a practitioner’s bad thoughts can negatively affect the people in the environment around him. When sending forth righteous thoughts in my mind, my dimension remains positive. Positive messages encourage us to live up to the standard of a practitioner, which in turn helps us advance in our cultivation. Conversely, the appearance of bad thoughts can muddy our dimension and our surroundings. This kind of negativity can have the effect of interfering with other practitioners and non-practitioners alike, which can result in interfering with the salvation of humankind.

Lecture One of Zhuan Falun states, “In fact, let me tell everyone that matter and mind are one thing.” From my personal experience, I have come to realize some aspects that relate to this quote. For example, I have seen that when our minds are focused on seeking fame and self-interest, these thoughts can effect people around us, perhaps motivating someone to fight with you for a little bit of personal gain. Sometimes, when we are trapped in the cycle of love for friends and family, our complex mind separates us from the principle of the universe, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” That is how a practitioner’s thinking can influence ordinary human society, even within the community of cultivators. Consequently, we need to always have righteous thoughts in order to be responsible to society. In addition, keeping our minds righteous also helps us live up to the standard of a practitioner and to improve our character.

The above understandings were gained from experiences I have had in the course of my cultivation. Your feedback and critical comments are welcome.
