Walking on the way home, as light as a leaf floating in the breeze, you have no sense of weight but you are with your sense of being.
At any moment, under any circumstance, in anything, perhaps something magnificent or maybe something quietly trivial to humankind, you always function as a true Dafa particle.
In the very beginning, when you had just obtained the Dafa, in your dream you saw something clad in lots of mud. But then its golden shine was revealed as the mud coating was removed layer by layer. Ah! It’s a hint by the Master: break off your human thoughts and return to your true origin. You were so touched and moved that now you understood the real meaning of your life in this human world.
In this world as a human being, you have been “locked and chained” by so many burdening weights. Those burdening weights were accumulated in accordance with the Fa’s automatic regulating mechanism, as a pure life was unknowingly drifting and deviating away from the Dafa. “The notions formed will obstruct and govern your life. A human notion is usually selfish or even worse, so it will produce thought karma, and then man is also governed by the karma. Man is dominated by his Main Spirit. When your Main Spirit gets numbed and is replaced by notions, it means that you have surrendered unconditionally, and your life is controlled by those things.” (“On Buddha-Nature” in Zhuan Falun Volume II)
Firm belief leads to righteous enlightenment that paves the way to pure insight. Only Dafa can unlock those burdening weights. Perhaps some living beings were already impure at their birth. To make it worse, notions acquired after birth deepen the karma and melt into the brain and blood as well as into the layers of your body. Your feelings, senses, views, and the like have been governed by your thought karma.
The old powers have tried their destructive way of testing the Dafa. They arranged for the modern sciences, cultures, regional concepts, philosophy of criticizing and fighting, history of humiliating peoples, the tyrants and the harsh socialism. Those layers and layers of notions after your birth are in your way. Breaking off those shells of notions with rationality and looking at everything on the basis of Fa without any presumed notions, you will find that things, with or without form, spiritual or material, proceed according to certain rules. Everything happens for a reason. “If one does not form any notion when viewing a problem, he will have an understanding that comes out of his good nature, a real understanding of his own, and will deal with the problem with kindness. The more you yourself show your true self, the loftier your thought is, the nearer you’ll be to the truth, and the more you’ll find yourself in the realm of your original good nature.” (“On Buddha-Nature” in Zhuan Falun Volume II)
After breaking off one shell of notion, you will see one layer of truth while your wisdom is increased one step. If you can eradicate all the acquired notions, then you are back to the place where you came from. “But it is very difficult to eradicate the acquired ideas, because this is just the Cultivation.”
Cultivation is serious business. It’s looking at your heart but not the superficial things. How can one see it? With the Fa one can.
Notions at different levels have different living matter or compositions and patterns of progression. This is reflected as different ways of thinking or patterns of logic. The more selfish notions are more complicated, complex and inferior with less wisdom.
Breaking off the acquired notions, you will find fundamental changes in your way of thinking. You won’t paint yourself into a corner serially, nor will you view a problem only diagnostically. “Look at the universe from all the ten directions, microscopically to macroscopically!” You’ll view everything with great wisdom from the macroscopic gross picture to the microscopic fine details so as to know the cause and the result. Humankind’s notion of “good vs. bad” or “big vs. small” will no longer exist in your enlightened mind. There is only a concept of “purity” or degree of being “impure”.
When you take yourself to be a cultivator, then you know that to maintain the Fa is your basic end; when you melt into Fa, you’ll find that your basic point is Benevolence – not the limited one from this life but the vast one from Dafa.
The cosmic principles are absolutely fair and straightforward. The Fa regulates human beings, heavenly beings, deities, and higher living beings. The motion of matter follows certain laws. Mind and matter are the same. The human body is a small cosmos. Any universe or cosmic body is a living thing. But a lower-level life form cannot see the truth about life at a higher level. Under the regulation of the Fa, the profound cosmic bodies are in harmonic and orderly motion as are all living beings that are assimilating to the requirements of the Fa. On the other hand, if living beings deviate away from Fa, then the trajectories of motion will deviate. The universes are made of energies, whether in the form of mass or energy, wave or particle, or mind or matter. The energies that constitute the living beings in the universes must meet the Fa’s requirements in order to be eternal at their proper levels; otherwise, they will be eliminated from the various levels. The energies of living beings are due to manifestation of the level and its mighty virtue, as the Fa creates them. The purer the thoughts, the more energy will be bestowed by the Fa.
As a Fa particle, not only do you know that you should safeguard the Fa but that you should also see to it that the Fa is maintained with its proper contents at different levels. You should be responsible for all the positive factors of the Fa. Then you realize that Fa-rectification coexists with personal rectification. If you still have anything impure that matches the notions from the old power, then evil will take advantage of this opening and twist you around.
Not long ago, you stood in the crowded street among the waves of people coming and going. Now you do not have much to do with others, although they seem to be related to you. You are here but your heart and mind are somewhere else. Having gotten rid of human thoughts and the human way of thinking, you find out one day that you are not benevolent enough. You realize rationally from the Fa that the spreading of the Dafa comes from the immense benevolence of the great cosmos so as to give all living beings a second chance. You feel that you were so impure before; you are terribly ashamed of yourself to be facing the merciful Master and the supreme Buddha Fa. The impurity was from somewhere in your warped life, unknown to you before.
Now you see that in terms of the vast cosmic bodies, you are so trivial and so infinitesimal. But when you really realize this with rationality from the Fa, then you know the following truth. The smaller you are, the wider is your view; the purer your mind is, the more energy you are given and the bigger in size you become. Then, when you are at this stage, it’s a joke for evil to think of taking advantage of you.
Why does a high-level life pity the living beings below him/her? Because it’s a pity that they don’t know they are pitiful.
In the long duration of millions of months and years, various living beings at different levels became degenerate and deviated away from Dafa; so they became more and more impure. The benevolence accorded each living thing got less and less with respect to the true origin of its life. The impurity was caused by evil factors so that the arrangements made by the old powers became ill intended. Perhaps this is why in this Dharma-ending period no gods can save people by means of their old ways. Our merciful Teacher says, “If this (persecution of Falun Gong) had not happened, I could resolve well the problems of all beings and enable all of them to meet the standard for Consummation.” (Master Li’ Lecture at the Great Lakes Conference in North America)
In the front of the enormously benevolent Dafa, when you sign your name as a “Dafa Disciple”, you really sense the heavy weight of this estimable title: Duty, Solemnity, and Holiness. As a Dafa particle, you are to inhibit the evil factors. While clarifying the truth, you expose evil and assist the Teacher to resolve well the problems and offer salvation to the innocent human beings so they can assimilate with the Dafa.
You should not agree to the arrangements made by the old power nor allow their persecution of the Fa. If you do not accept their notions in your mind, you’ll have wisdom and strength. Everywhere you go, the Buddha lights are shining brilliantly to smooth out everything. Under your energy circle of influence, all material environments will fail to cooperate with the evil persecution of the Fa. The old power can no longer regulate you.
As a Dafa particle, you are harmonious, without any faults, as well as diamond-like to be unbreakable. Then perhaps you may protect yourself. That’s why you have to get enlightened in this lost maze. Only in such an environment can you build up your firm conviction to reach principled enlightenment; when you eradicate the notions you acquired after birth, you can see the true pictures at different levels and thus establish your own prodigious virtue. Only the vast benevolent Dafa can give you the true righteous enlightenment and pure insight. Perhaps that’s why you, as a cultivator during Fa-rectification, may become so great.
