Let Go of Attachments to Self-interest and Finish the Last Leg of Fa-rectification Strong

We can’t stop time from lapsing, but we can let our true selves take control, strengthen our godly side, and make sure we are on track with what Master Li and Fa-rectification require us to do. How can we achieve this? We can do so only by evaluating all of our thoughts in light of the Fa, by being part of the Fa, by detecting even the most minute deviation from the Fa using the righteous mind and power the Fa confers to us, and by rectifying all factors that keep us off track. In this way, we safeguard our own lives, take due responsibility for ourselves and all lives, and make sure we are on the right track.

During the course of cultivation, all practitioners unavoidably encounter and combat attachments and worldly thoughts. If we don’t look for the attachments in our mind and use the power of the Fa to get rid of them, the environment in which we cultivate changes accordingly and problems occur when we coordinate efforts with fellow practitioners. This is because all attachments represent self-interest—the logic of the old universe—and are therefore obstacles in the way of cultivation. These attachments are there to meet personal interests; they induce emotion and irrational behavior. Master Li said in “Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A.” that, “As I've said, everything that happens today in the ordinary society is the result of Dafa disciples’ thoughts.”

From this, I realized that a Dafa practitioner’s each and every thought has substantial impact. If each and every one of us eliminated the attachment to our own way of thinking and conducting ourselves, the evil forces would not have been so rampant before their demise. During the last moments of Fa-rectification, evil elements have diminished and the overall situation has changed. However, we must make persistent effort in our cultivation, because this is what the Fa requires us to do.

The precondition for doing well in these aspects is to study the Fa well. The Fa ensures that we eliminate attachments and strengthen righteous thoughts; learning the Fa is the priority for all practitioners. No matter how busy we are, we must not ignore studying the Fa. Even when we may only have a limited amount of time, we can always read a few paragraphs well. This is still better than reading the whole book without concentrating on the Fa.

When we are part of the Fa, our bad thoughts disappear and our mind is purified. In this way, we validate the Fa using our righteous mind and let go of our self-interest and self-centeredness and become part of Fa. As a result, we find it easy to carry out our three responsibilities. Then the environment in which we cultivate improves, thus enabling us to play a significant role in saving lives.

On the other hand, if we always take notice of others’ shortcomings rather than cultivating ourselves, conflicts and differences will be aggravated. In that case, evil forces will step in and cause damage to the Fa-rectification process, and the persecution will continue.

All Dafa practitioners are part of one body; any persecution against a fellow practitioner is the same as persecution against us and is interfering with the Fa-rectification. Since we all know that the sin of obstructing the Fa-rectification is enormous, why don’t we eliminate those attachments to self-interest and correct ourselves?

The remaining time we possess to assist Master Li in Fa-rectification is limited. We should not leave any room for regret in the future because of what we do now. We must let our godly mind control our thinking and let go of attachments to self-interest and self-centeredness. We must openly recognize our shortcomings and get rid of them through cultivation. We must make sure that we are on track and that we make due progress in the last stage of Fa-rectification because “This instant is precious beyond measure.” (“Teaching the Fa in the City of Chicago”). Master Li expects us to do even better.

The above are only my personal understandings and I appreciate suggestions and comments.
