Falun Dafa Participates in Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade for 10th Consecutive Year

PureInsight | December 25, 2012

[PureInsight.org] November 22, 2012, was the warmest Thanksgiving day in Chicago since 1966. Tens of thousands of residents and tourists gathered on the side of State Street to watch the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition which started in 1934. The parade is one of only two parades broadcast live in the US—the other is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

The parade began at 8:00 am, led by the McDonalds float, followed by about 100 organizations from Chicago and other areas of the US.

Among the 100 organizations, one of them was a group rooted in traditional Chinese culture—Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong—which has participated in the parade for 10 consecutive years. They brought two large lotus flowers this year, one as high as a person and the other resting on the float.

The Mid-US Falun Dafa Association has been invited each year to attend this event. According to Falun Dafa practitioners who just came from China, the freedom here has drawn a clear contrast with the persecution of Falun Dafa in China.
