How a White Parrot Influenced My Understanding of Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts

[PureInsight.org] When I was
young, my mother often took me to temples to worship. I truly believed
in the Buddha Law in my heart. Before I started cultivating in Dafa, I
had a very special experience.

After I got married (before I obtained Dafa), our family began to raise
a couple of white parrots. We raised them from when they were
fledglings to adult birds. We became quite attached to them
emotionally. One day, my innocent kindergarten-age son wanted the birds
to fly higher. So he grasped one of the birds in his hand and threw it
forward. The bird fell on the ground hard. My daughter and I were
frightened by what my son did. I quickly picked up the bird and put it
in a box. When we saw it lying in the box motionlessly, my daughter and
I both felt very upset. I decided to chant Buddhist scripture for it so
that it could leave the world peacefully. After a while, the bird
surprisingly survived, which seemed magical to me.

Several years later, I obtained Dafa. One day, when I was studying Zhuan Falun,
I read "Sakyamuni said that one should chant the scripture with a
righteous mind and undivided attention in order to shake the paradise
of his cultivation practice... ..." Then I recalled the story of the
white bird. I realize that when I was chanting the Buddhist scripture,
my heart was pure and calm. That is why the miracle took place.
Although I could not see other dimensions at that time, I believed the
tremendous power of the Buddha law.

In my view, in order to send forth righteous thoughts well, we should
study the Fa with a clear mind. The way that I send forth righteous
thought is as follows. First I try to maintain my mind clear and pure
because the purer and calmer our minds are when sending forth righteous
thoughts, the greater we the Dafa disciples can make use of our
supernatural capabilities. Hence, I prepare for sending forth righteous
thoughts at 5:50 and 11:50, five minutes earlier than our regular time
arrangements which are 5: 55 and 11:55. I use five minutes (from 5: 50
to 5:55; from 11:50-11:55) to listen to the music of Pudu or Jishi to
calm down myself. While sending forth righteous thoughts, my mind
completely concentrates on reciting every word from the
Fa-rectification verses clearly and I won't let my mind feel sleepy at
all. Regarding the content I speak when sending forth righteous
thoughts, practitioners can refer to the article named "The Essentials
to Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts and the Schedule for Sending Forth
Righteous Thoughts at Set Times Around the World (Update 2)" on the
