A Holy Lotus in the Mortal World

[PureInsight.org] When Tongtong was young, in order to teach her how to act in an emergency I played cards with her. At first I explained the principles to her: be a good person according to “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance”; be a team player, don’t show off; be tolerant and patient; be broad-minded; be able to handle success and failure. Sometimes I intentionally defeated her. Then she said loudly and humorously, “I won. It doesn’t matter.” I asked her, “When you play with your friends, does anyone act badly?” She replied, “A lot of them do. When they win, they gloat and when they lose, they become angry.” Then I asked, “What if you lose?” She answered frankly, “It doesn’t matter.” Therefore, when she played with her classmates, she could be tolerant and patient. All the kids liked to make friends with her.

There was a supermarket downstairs. When I shopped there with Tongtong, she never asked me to buy this or that. Every time we went, the cashier praised her. Sometimes there were the types of snacks that all kids like to eat. I asked her if she wanted me to buy some. Most of the time she said no. I understood that Master was helping me to let go of my attachment to emotion, and transform my humanity into compassion.

After ten years in the wind and rain, this little Dafa disciple grew from a little bud to a holy and pure lotus in full blossom. She became more mature. Her heart was so pure and without malice that people could see her goodness clearly.

This year there was a track and field competition at her school. There were sixteen classes for the Fourth Grade. Her class, which was class 8, scored 127 and ranked number 1. At that time the bird flu was prevailing and some of her classmates couldn’t make the events. Her teacher asked everyone, “Who can help out?” Tongtong volunteered to take part in the competition. She took first place in 60-meter race, 100-meter race, 200-meter race and the high jump. Later the teacher asked, “Tongtong, we don’t have anyone to take part in the 400-meter race? Will you be able to run for the class?” Tongtong answered yes without hesitation. In the end, she won second place in the race. Tongtong was a little bit regretful. She said: “Teacher, I was too tired to run faster.” So she scored 57 for the class by herself. After she came home, she told me that it’s a virtue to be considerate of others and cooperate with others and the group. I was really happy for this little unselfish being that was in harmony with the Fa principles of the new universe.

She often told others that Master saved her several times. One time while she was waiting for the school bus, a drunkard wanted to use a piece of glass to cut her. She asked Master for help in her mind. That drunkard slowly put down his hand and walked away. On another occasion, when she was crossing the street, a fast-moving minivan almost grazed the tip of her nose. If Master hadn’t saved her, she wouldn’t have survived. (There were other incidents, but due to limited space, I won’t enumerate them.)

On September 10, 2010, she told me: “The evil toad made trouble. My knee got hurt, but I put my hand on my knee and kept reciting ‘Falun Dafa is good’. Very soon afterwards I felt better. Grandma, isn’t it a miracle?” I took a look at her knee. Indeed there was a thick scab on her knee and the scratched area was not small.

A couple of days ago we went to visit an elderly practitioner. In March he had a fall and broke his left shank. He was sent to the hospital. He had surgery and a steel plate was embedded in his leg to hold the bone. On October 12, he felt severe pain in his leg. So he went to the hospital again. Then he was told that the steel plate had broken and they needed to replace the broken one with a new one. This made the practitioner enlighten at once. He told me that he needed to seize this opportunity to correct his previous mistake, assimilating to the Fa on his own accord, letting go of attachments and keeping up with the process of Fa rectification.

On Wednesday afternoon, Tongtong came to my house and we shared our understandings. As soon as I mentioned the surgery, Tongtong said: “No. If he had put his hand on his leg the first time and recited ‘Falun Dafa is good,’ he would have been fine already.” This little being was always able to understand the Fa and Fa rectification.

On September 16, 2010, she happily told me, “Grandma, I did a good deed.” It turned out that in her school, if a student accumulated 20 reward credits, he or she would be rewarded with a prize. So, that day she saw her classmates waiting in line. Out of curiosity she went to the front of the line and asked the teacher what was going on. The teacher said there was a prize for her and gave her an eraser in the shape of a gun. She was very happy but the boy behind her was not happy because he wanted that eraser. Tongtong said, “At the time I went back home without thinking about it too much. At night I thought, ‘If I hadn’t gone to the front of the line, the eraser would have been given to that boy.’ Today after I went to school, I exchanged the eraser with that boy. He gave me an old eraser but I didn’t say anything.”

This is the difference between cultivators and ordinary people. On the surface it looks like a small thing. In fact the gap in levels between cultivators and ordinary people is huge. Her behavior makes people realize that the most beautiful being is the one who is always considerate of others instead of criticizing others. I praised her that she did the right thing and encouraged her to be more kind with her classmates. I hope this little Dafa disciple cultivates even more diligently and that this holy lotus in the mortal world grows even more beautiful.
